Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0530hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar at 2200hrs PPS-5 at BS737433 sighted 4 to 5 personnel moving northeast with negative clearance and Charlie Company was notify. At 0947hrs Helix 37 is putting in an Air Strike into BS794326. At 0925hrs 1-20 Infantry we request an Area of Operation extension from BS7336 south to BS7335 and southeast to BS742340 for the period DATE/TIME 041800 April 1970 starting at present we will continue the search of a Base Camp. At 1025hrs 11 Brigade to 1-20 Infantry Convoy of 8 Transportation Group from Quin Nhon will arrive at I-II Corps boundary at approximately 041100 April 70 to Chu Lai will stay over night in Chu Lai. And they will return to Quin Nhon approximately 050800hrs April 1970, Mission for 1-20 Infantry is the same.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 3, 1970
At 0910hrs Alpha Company is in their Day Logger at BS763370. At 1140hrs Alpha Company is moving to BS763370 and change Day Logger to BS754377. Using multiple patrolling at 1730hrs Alpha 61 found a tunnel at BS764368 which was 6’ long 2’ high and 2’ wide near a hedgerow and destroyed it. At 1830hrs 41 and 42 joined with the 32 element to conduct a sweep of an area. At 1840 the 63 element found many footprints to their south leading to the mountains. There appears to be 4-5 personnel in the area with Vietnamese slippers and the rest where bare foot, all prints where clear cut, at grid BS780360. At 1939hrs Alpha Company the 03 element found a tunnel located in an area with several wells. The tunnel was located in a well bottom at 10 feet. K tunnels were 40’ long with bananas in one tunnel grid BS758379. At 2035hrs the rest of Alpha Company elements closed on BS754377. Summery Alpha Company destroyed 3 tunnel complexes and found NVA clothing and belonging buried.
Bravo Company
April 3, 1970
At 0130hrs Bravo Company the 61 element is beginning their sweep to BS782380 and the 62 elements is blocking BS781397 to BS786389, and B 61 element is on patrol. The flare ship broke station at 0220hrs and the 66 element at BS775395. At 0300hrs the 62 element is moving back to BS783433 with the night attach with negative finding. At 0810hrs Bravo Company 44 element found sleeping quarters for a VC at BS789445. We found approximately 5 pounds of rice, some candy and 1 M-26 grenade all items was destroyed in place. At 0825hrs Bravo Company the 147 RF Platoon will provide road security at BS804396. Bravo Company the 02 element found one bow of freshly cooked rice and bread. We also found some medical supplies (bandages, morphine and band aides), one hastily built shelter made of tin and one family type bunker at BS788437. The shelter and bunker was blown in place. At 0930hrs Bravo Company we found a tunnel which was blown resulting in one VC female, about 40 years old, KIA and one VC male WIA, about 40 years old with bandages from previous wounds, both were wearing black and male was sent in to Military Intelligence. We also found a US hammock, 3 cans of Pet Milk and 4 NVA blasting caps. At 1130hrs Bravo Company the 172 RF Company with the 44 elements found 7 M-16 magazines (loaded), 3 sandbags of rice, and one baseball type grenades at BS789445.
Charlie Company

At 1540hrs Charlie Company we are all in position at BS753443. At 1855hrs the 43 element is moving to BS756448 and the 65 element to BS748453. At 2007hrs Charlie Company the 43 element is at BS756448, the 44 is at BS742442 the 41 is at BS753443, the 65 element is at BS748456, the 61 is at BS741450 and the 64 is at BS740443. Also the 05 element is at BS736437, the 04 is at BS7358431 and the 01 element is at BS736425.
Delta Company

At 0825hrs Delta Company the 31 element is moving to check out tunnels at BS734436 and BS735437. At 1030hrs Delta Company all snakes have closed on BS738428. At 1105hrs Delta Company, we are moving to LZ LIZ, to take over the Security Mission for the LZ Liz.
Echo Company
April 3, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Missions 8 for a total expended of 64 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1752hrs Recon Platoon the 62 snake has moved to BS774403, the 64 snake has moved to BS779396 and the 61 snake has moved out to BS785392. At 2000hrs Recon Platoon the 62 is at BS774403, the 63 is at BS779396 and the 95 is at BS788387.
