Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0005hrs MACV Mo Duc PF 167 requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF with gunshot wound to chest and #88 completed at 0040hrs. At 0030hrs Access Road reports 3 B 40 rockets were fired on grid vicinity BS787439, Illumination was fired with negative sighting. At 0155hrs PF 103 MACV MO Duc at BS770470 reported VC squad entered Thach Tru Ville and burned several hootches, Max and Liz fired Illumination and RF checked area with negative findings, negative casualties. At 0240hrs Saber 44 is on station for Box 41 with negative findings. At 0945hrs 1-4 ARVN while sweeping area vicinity grid BS616534, detonated a mine resulting in 1 ARVN KIA and 1 ARVN WIA (Dusted Off). Element continued sweep and found 4 VC in a bunker resulting in 4 VC KIA, 1 M-16 and 1 AK 47 CIA. At 1015hrs MACV Mo Duc at 778531, Lambretta hit an unknown type mine on road to Nui Ong Do, thought to be approximately 30 to 40 pounds of TNT with results 10 Vietnamese civilians KIA, 2 Vietnamese civilians WIA. Approximately 1100hrs a vehicle from MACV Mo Duc hit a mine in the same area with results 1 US WIA. At 1330hrs Minuteman 907 is on station for resupply. At 2000hrs TMF String 310 B is activation with unknown size stationary target metal is confirmed and at 1941hrs end of mission undue delay in political clearance. At 2045hrs MACV Mo Duc RF 103 at BS756460 while in location engaged unknown size enemy force. LZ Liz and Max fired illumination and RF swept area of engagements. Results 1 VC KIA not US confirmed. At 2145hrs Saber 40 is on station to check Box 45, at 2200hrs he observed 4 personnel with weapons evade into a haystack. He engaged them killing 4 (VC/NVA) he immediately received heavy small arms fire from a wood line grid BS683584. After expending on the area he broke station to rearms and refuel. At 2315hrs Saber 40 came back on station and adjusted artillery on the earlier target. He observed a flashlight and again received heavy fire from 15 to 20 automatic weapons he broke station due to the size of enemy force at 0025hrs. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2158hrs LZ Liz is on practice Alert, ended at 215hrs.
Bravo Company
March 31, 1971
At 0705hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 4th Platoon is in their Patrol Base at BS683542. At 0730hrs Bravo Company, 1st and 3rd Platoon moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS665551. At 1126hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon at BS665551, while moving into Patrol Base, found 1 can of Petna with fuse and trip wire was not set up, and blown in place. At 1350hrs Bravo Company Command Post elements closed on BS683542. At 1915hrs Bravo Company Night Defense Position Command Post and 4th Platoon at BS668542, 1st Platoon at BS665540, and 2nd Platoon at BS682503.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued the multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2010hrs Charlie Company Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoon at BS724472, 1st Platoon BS716443 and 3rd Platoon at Night Defense Position at BS711479.
Delta Company
March 31, 1971
Delta Company continued set up Patrol Bases and patrolling by platoon in their Area of Operation. At 0647hrs Delta Company reports 3rd Platoon is moving out to their Patrol Base at BS695505. At 0723hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon has changed their Patrol Base to BS655508. At 0800hrs Delta Company Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoons is moving to BS679505 and closed on location at 0947hrs. At 1041hrs Delta Company 2nd platoon vicinity BS685507 found 1 51 caliber position 2’ in diameter, 2’ deep, with 10’ of overhead cover (Rocks) estimate 2 to 3 days old. The position appears to be impossible to destroy. At 1240hrs Delta Company 1st platoon at BS684507, while on patrol found 10 man base camp, with camp fire in center and bamboo running waterspout and appeared to be 5-6 days old. At 1955hrs Delta Company Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoon at BS682503, 1st platoon BS657516, 3rd platoon at BS693512 and 3rd platoon ambush is at BS693513.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0640hrs Recon reports they are moving out to LZ Liz and at 0640hrs reports they are closing on LZ Liz.
