Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0035rhs Brigade the Gun Ships that were working the area of the Bravo Company contact were from the 116 Aviation said they saw 1 VC and engaged. At 0730hrs E Troop completed their sweep of grids BS768583 to BS760578, dropped off Charlie 75 and 76 at BS757563, E Troop moving to Bridge security vicinity BS742666. At 1200hrs Primo at BS7555 has 2 VC KIA, had 1 VC in a boat went to a shore, spotted two people in water, KIA them. They had 2 packs, evaded into bunker, 1 in bunker had weapon, Primo had to break station to go to grid BS6963. At 2220hrs MACV tomorrow National Field Forces, National Police and 1 PF platoon will run operation south of Delta Company grids BS739530, BS733550, BS764542, BS756558 from 0800 to 1300hrs on Intelligence from a Chieu Hoi. Legend: 1st Platoon 52-57, 2nd Platoon 34-39, 3rd Platoon 72-77, 4th Platoon 42-47 and Commanding Officer -70.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1040hrs Alpha Company 44 element found 6 60mm mortar rounds, 1 M-79 canister round 2 artillery fuses, 3 M-16 clips, 1 BAR empty clip, 1 steel pot complete, 2 medical books (Vietnamese type) 1 M-16 frag grenade, 2 loose leaf notebooks with diagrams, all evaded to Battalion.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0015hrs Bravo Company the RF ambush engaged 3 VC at same location BS741651, Bravo Company had contact early and engaged 3 VC resulting in 1 VC KIA and found 3 Chi Com grenade RF was part of the 937 RF Company, Gun ships working area over. At 1205hrs Bravo Company at BS741651 detained 2 male ages 39-37.
Charlie Company

At 0645hrs Charlie Company 76 with tracks moving to grid BS768583 with 32 element moving snake position and closing on 70 Day Logger at BS743561. At 0730hrs E Troop completed their sweep of grids BS768583 to BS760578, dropped off Charlie 75 and 76 at BS757563, E Troop moving to Bridge security vicinity BS742666. At 0800hrs Charlie Company 55 element engaged at grid BS7344574 took 5 rounds of small arms fire from 400 meters, engaged 6 VC results 1 VC KIA and CIA 1 Chi Com, 3 VC evaded north, 2 west KIA 35-40 male and will destroy the frag. Charlie Company turned 1 female detainee into Military Intelligence. At Charlie Company tracks have dropped 75/76 off at pick up site, now proceeding to next assignment dropped at BS737563. At 0900hrs 36 element of Charlie Company at grid BS756459 has 1 female detainee age 26, blue top black bottom, (Nage Ngiong Dei) with negative ID will evac the PF say she is VC. At 1140hrs Charlie Company engaged 9 VC inside the mangroves after they had received sniper fire with 2 packs CIA in which was found a green uniform and medical supplies, 2 VC were sighted at 1500 meters with weapons. At 1915hrs Charlie Company at BS743655 70 spotted 2 personnel with weapons approximately 1500 meters south of Command Post Primo on station to check area personnel evaded to the wood line, Primo had negative findings.
Delta Company
July 31, 1970
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Delta Company is moving off LZ Liz. At 1245hrs at BS743564 found 1 250-500 pound bomb, requested EOD and EOD completed mission at 1500hrs. At 2015rhs Delta Company 70/42 in Night Defense Position at BS739570, the 55 snake and the 52 snake in position at BS752582, the 32 Night Defense Position is at BS745565 and the 35 snake in position at BS741569.
Echo Company
July 31, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0505hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total expended of 8 HE and 13 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry (Jump Command Post).
