At 0415hrs 1-20 Infantry for Information Area of Operation extension for 4-21 Infantry Date/Time/Grid 100400hrs to 032400hrs, BS880198 to BS8917 to BS9015 to I Corp boundary, 4-3 Infantry 310800hrs August 1970 to 081800 September 1970#B13 BS660295 south BS660285 to BS730285 north to Area of Operation Boundary. At 0430hrs TMF sighted at 1925hrs at BS717422, 1-5 personnel stationary, negative clearance due to the proximity of Charlie Company. At 1945hrs at BS714431 sighted 6 to 8 personnel that where moving to the northwest, negative clearance due to proximity of Charlie Company. At 2000hrs at BS718428 sighted 6 to 8 personnel stationary, negative clearance due to proximity of Charlie Company and at 2020hrs at BS806446 8 to 10 stationary personnel negative clearance due to proximity of Charlie Company. At 2045hrs TMF String 73 activated, negative clearance due to the proximity of Delta Company. At 2140hrs at BS788515 sighted 1 to 5 stationary personnel engaged with 32 HE rounds 155 Artillery. At 2240hrs at BS790524 sighted 6 to 10 personnel that where moving to the west engaged with 20 HE rounds of 155 Artillery. At 2335hrs at BS790524 sighted 6 to 10 stationary personnel engaged with 20 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0400hrs at BS69694061 sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel engaged with 16 HE rounds 105 Artillery. At 0855hrs 26 Engineer completed phase 11 on 30 August 1970 with the following results. A total as for the day 31August 1970 is 2254 acres cleared, 299 bunkers destroyed, 20 fighting positions, 3300 meters of trench line. Also 1458hrs meters of tunnel destroyed, 44 booby traps and 6 mines blown in place. At 0947hrs Charlie Company the 65 element is moving out for BS727414, the 87 element is moving out to BS700430 and the 83 element moved into new Day Logger at BS712431. At 1000hrs 1-20 Infantry requested Area of Operation extension from 4-3 Infantry Date/Time/Grid 010600hrs to 052400hrs September 1970 BS710425 to BS7140 East to political boundary, disapproved by 4-3 Infantry. At 1905hrs S-5 wrap up total leaflets dropped in Area of Operation 153,000, 30 minutes (tape time), District Chief of Mo Duc consented to make a tape from night broadcast, theme Chieu Hoi. Also investigated reports incident in Taach-Thruh hamlet, allegedly an artily round hit a hootch, 1 Vietnamese female and 4 Vietnamese Children WIA about 2400hrs on 30 August 1970. Also a Investigation Team MAJ. Frokeseic and CPT Baldwin 6-11 Artillery and LT. Quinn looked at damage and talked to the Duc My Village Chief regarding the incident at 1330hrs 21 August 1970, S-5 was notified at 1200hrs 31 August 1970 Investigation is continuing. At 2130hrs MACV Mo Duc at BS769534 received 2 rounds 82mm which hit outside Nui Ong Do, RF 716, 1 Montyard wife was WIA and evac, rounds fired from the north. At 2135hrs TMF at BS712441 4-5 stationary personnel with negative clearance due tot he proximity of friendly also at 2150hrs TMF at BS723439 3 to 4 stationary personnel with negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly. Legend: 1st Platoon 23-28, 2nd Platoon 83-88, 3rd Platoon 63-68 and CO is 34.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company moving out for BS7005547 at 0845hrs Alpha Company moving to BS690568 to check out Ville in that vicinity at 0920hrs Alpha Company 66 pick up 2 Vietnamese females negative ID will back haul. At 1042hrs Alpha Company the 86 element has closed on BS690544 and the Alpha 66 spotted 3 packs at BS690568 wearing blue green uniforms, bush hats and carrying weapon with wood stocks. They evaded into the wood line, before 66 could close on them. At 1120hrs Alpha Company had 1 male detainee approximately 35 years old, dressed in black and negative ID pick up at BS705550 on the western side of RR burm. At 1850hrs Alpha Company has 1 male detainee pick up by the 33 element at BS700560, green shorts, tan shirt, has old frag scars on his body and a negative ID. At 1935hrs Alpha Company 34, 53 and 93 in Night Defense Position at BS690553.
Bravo Company

At 1556hrs Bravo Company 25 element found 1 M-14 anti personnel mine at BS748667 set to explode, will destroy in place. At 1752hrs 25 element pick up one detainee no ID, 18, will send to Military Intelligence tomorrow.
Charlie Company
August 31, 1970
At 1150hrs Charlie Company 85 element returned to the 83 element’s location at BS912431. At 1250hrs Charlie Company the 34 element bought 1 60mm round, 1 81mm round for 300 piasters, rounds were destroyed. At 1505hrs Charlie Company Urgent Dust Off requested for 1 Vietnamese child at BS712431. Routine Dust Off for 5 Vietnamese children at BS722430, received wounds when one Vietnamese child threw a M-79 round on the ground and it exploded. At 1700hrs Charlie Company 87 element found 2 small bunkers at BS705439, negative findings, plan to CS these bunkers tomorrow. At 1930hrs Charlie Company 34-53 element is moving to the Night Defense Position at BS751426.
Delta Company
August 31, 1970
At 0700hrs Delta Company 23 element in Day Logger at BS764389, the 63 element in Day Logger at BS764388, 34, 83, 53 in their Day Logger at BS774373, the 25 element is moved out, now at checkpoint 1 at BS764393, the 65 element moved out for BS759388. At 0844hrs Delta Company 34 element spotted 7-8 personnel on a hilltop at BS786371, appeared to be checking the area in and hit targets. Delta Company 83 is moving out to the area to check the area. In Reference to Delta Company 83 at 0855hrs negative finding except for 2 bags expended .50 cal brass 1 pair of sandals, 1 old ARVN helmet, and 6 M-16 rounds. The Delta Company again used Day loggers and Saturation Patrolling of the Area of Operation. At 1655hrs Delta Company the 25 element moving out for BS745405, the 27 element moving out for BS753400, the 85 element is moving out for BS770360. At 1917hrs Delta Company 34, 83, with the 53 element is moving to Night Defense Position at BS776372.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0400hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon Fire Mission 0 with a total expended none. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
