Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0100hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports LRRP Clyde at 2347hrs grid BS880228 observed movement to front of position checked it out with negative finding.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 31, 1968
At 1000hrs Alpha Company at BS784375 and at 1038hrs Alpha Company at BS778360 found hidden in hedgerow, 2 canteens, 20 pounds of polished rice, medical bandages, 1 half of poncho, 1 GI fatigue shirt, 1 M-79 ammo pouch and 1 NVA ammo pouch. At 1107hrs Alpha Company at BS781378 found hidden in hedgerow 3 claymore mines, 1 VC ammo pouch, 5 empty M-16 magazines, 1 full m-16 magazine, 10 pounds of polished rice a few papers and 64 rounds of K44 ammo, will evac to LZ Thunder. At 1128hrs Alpha Company at BS781378 found ammo can with VC propaganda written in English also 1 Vietnamese diary, will evac to LZ Thunder. At 1150hrs Alpha Company locations are at 10 BS777367, 20 BS781367, 30 & Command Post BS781370 and Bonnie at BS791351. At 1152hrs Alpha Company at BS780372 found ammo can containing 2 pounds of polished rice, personnel equipment and green shirt. At 1212hrs Alpha Company at BS780372, found PRT 4 transmitter set on 51.00 frequencies, found 1 tunnel checking out at this time. At 1356hrs Alpha Company reports their locations 10 at BS773368, 20 at BS781367 and 30 & Command Post at BS779372.
Bravo Company

At 1000hrs Bravo Company located at BS859359. At 1905hrs Bravo Company at BS861358 spotted 3 VC evading from hut engaged, results 1 VC KIA and 1 VCS CIA will evac CIA. At 1826hrs Bravo Company at BS874353 spotted 4 VC, 2 with packs, will call Artillery. At 1906hrs Bravo Company at BS869364 detained 4 VC male, no ID will evac tomorrow to LZ Thunder.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 0100hrs LRRP Clyde at 2347hrs grid BS880228 observed movement to front of position checked it out with negative finding.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and at 1000hrs Delta Company at BS917256.
Echo Company
August 31, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1356hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS801296. At 1030hrs Delta Company 19 Engineers reports at BS852320 we have Dust Off of 3 ARVN all had shrapnel wounds, not serious. Also at 1000hrs at BS817357 found 3 (pressure type), anti-vehicle mines south of access road to Bridge 110 fill pit, estimate charges at 35-40 pounds each, blew in place. At 2008hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS BS872324 received 3 rounds of mortar between their compound and village with negative casualties. The Special Forces Camp at Ha Thanh has been under heavy attack today with the lost of OP 4 and was retaken and now at 2352hrs still under attack.
