Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0725hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry all elements are moving out of our Night Defense Position. At 1010hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry we found a cache of buried rice 1000 pound and request more rice bags at grid BS744557. At 1020hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry our present working location is at BS775568. At 1110hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry we found approximately 6,00 pounds of rice, unpolished, which was buried under hootches with false floors, in rice bins, in holes in the ground with plastic covering, it and it was covered with dried potatoes. All the rice was in good condition and from the last harvest. At 1140hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry the 74 element has 8 detainees, 4 female 45 to 70 and 4 children 10 to 12. The 14 element at BS745554 has 2 females, age 35 to 40, with no ID and 4 more children. At 1305hrs Delta Company the 14 element found additional pounds of rice. At 1720hrs 26 Engineer reports 32 hours were logged in the operation with 74 acres cleared at BS775572 to BS771585 and 100 meters strip at BS776566 to Bs769581. 2 bunkers were destroyed, 1 homemade Chi Com grenade was found, 1 pound of C4. With was used with 4 D7 operational with 1 with a deadline oil line and there are 2 CEV operational. At 1830hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry the sniper team engaged 1 VC at 25 meters resulting in 1 VC KIA, approximately 20 years old and wearing olive drag clothing. The VC was carrying a pack, 4 hand frag grenades and a packet of documents. He had 1 first aid pouch, 3 small bags of uncooked rice, and some bags of cooked rice at grid BS750565. He also had 3 ink pens, 2 ponchos, some tea, 1 pair of black shorts, some band aid and a whistle in a plastic bag. Two additional VC were spotted 1 with a weapon, at 500 meters to the east. The documents were evac to LZ Liz. At 2100hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry the Command Post is at BS740558, the 14 element is at BS745552 and the 94 element is at BS742567. At 2145hrs Radar sighted 8 to 10 stationary personnel at BS781493. At 2245hrs Brigade to 1-20 Infantry TOC Nighthawk requested box, from BS7680 to BS7950 to BS7947 to BS7648 (in the time period of 310600hrs May 1970) was approved by 1LT Ronan. At 2355hrs Delta Company the 94 element Night Defense Position is at BS746559 and the 96 element is at BS753564.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Bravo Company
May 30, 1970
Bravo Company continued to work with ARVN Forces in their Area of Operation using multiple patrolling and day and night ambushes. At 0900hrs Bravo Company 28 reports that in the area of contact last night 3 pair of Ho Chi sandals, one bush hat and portion of a human skull were found at BS813412, no bodies, weapons or documents were found. At 1545hrs some Vietnamese children reported the remains of the old Bravo Company CO at grid BS786440 and the 97 element checked it out and at BS788435 found part of the head, chest and 2 arms with US Army shirt with CPT bars and crossed rifles. We have the body in a poncho ready for extraction. The original spot report was at 050717 May 70. At 1900hrs Bravo Company the 76 element while on their patrol picked up two detainees, one male 15 with ID and one female with no ID. The PF say they were on the black list and were suspicious of them. They will be sent to MACV incidents at BS779457. At 2230hrs Bravo Company the 169 PF spotted 4 VC at BS813410 and engaged with small arms at approximately 600 to 800 meters and checked out the area and found 2 VC KIA, one AK 47 CIA with more information to follow.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1900hrs Charlie Company the 18 element Access road snakes are in their location.
Delta Company

At 0630hrs Delta Company all elements have closed except for the 95 element which is checking the sighting of the lights and Artillery fire last night. At 0730hrs Delta Company the 78 element on a routine cloverleaf patrol reports little or no sign of people living in the area of BS744582. One child says two VC went through the area yesterday or last night with M-16 rifles and some sort of radio. At 0750hrs Delta Company the 74 element has one VC KIA with no ID and dressed in white shirt and black shorts, 35, he was moving west to east. The National Police called for him to stop and he started to evade to the south and several warning shots were fired by the National Police and he didn’t stop, lower their aim toward legs and resulting in 1 VC KIA and we also have 3 detainees. We also heard an explosion 300 meters to the east and believe it was a VC trying to set a booby trap for them and it went off. At 0905hrs Delta Company picked up 1 Vietnamese female walking past the Command Post, in her basket was 172,800 Vietnamese dollars in 1,000 Vietnamese stacks. Military Intelligence is questioning her, 40, at grid BS736568. About 10 minutes later made contact with 5 VC with M-16s, the VC evaded to the north toward high ground. The National Police believe the VC set up a horse shoe ambush for the 74 element but were scared away, but they did receive several rounds of small arms fire. At 1047hrs Delta Company the 74 element had a National police step on a booby trap believed to be command detonated as the element had some civilians walking past them the National Police was KIA and 2 civilians have slight frag and will be Dusted Off at grid BS744582. At 1305hrs Delta Company is spread out with multiple Day Ambush locations. At 1810hrs Delta Company we have 200 pounds of rice at the Command Post and 2000 pounds at the 94 elements location with the Ville checked out today. At 2015hrs Delta Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS736566 with 94 at BS734577, 95 at BS733583, 16 at BS739570, 74 at BS738576 95 at BS757598 and the 96 at BS759587.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0610hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 3 and Observed Missions 6 for a total expended 74 HE, 4 WP and 71 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2050hrs Recon reports the 94 element is at BS768590, the 95 element is at BS757598 and the 96 element is at BS759587 reports the beach head was cold. At 2245hrs The 94 element while moving to their snake location spotted 3 VC 75 meters to their west at 764590 and engaged with small arms. The VC returned small arms fire (3 rounds of AK47 fire) and in checking the area found 2 VC KIA with no weapons. We also have 2 VC CIA, were One male wearing a white shirt and shorts and one female wearing black shirt and blue shorts. The male detainee said there are VC in the area. The KIA were approximately 25 years of age and wearing black pants and black shirt, no documents were found and the are was checked out further with negative findings. The 94 elements new Defense Position is at BS770592.
