Headquarters and Headquarter Company
June 30, 1968
Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder as the Battalion returns to Control of the 11th Light Infantry Brigade Control in the Duc Pho Area of Operation. At 1244hrs 1-20 Infantry reports LRRP Victory is moving to PZ at BS793294. At 1537hrs 1-20 Infantry reports General Cooksey departed LZ Charlie Brown at 1535hrs subject of discussion was new bunker for LZ Charlie Brown and plans for Area of Operations extension tomorrow. At 1641hrs Delta Company move from Duc Pho to Chu Lai lift #1 departed at 0810hrs and 7th and last Lift at 1545hrs total paxs 145 with still have approximately 30 paxs to go.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
June 30, 1968
At 0755hrs Alpha Company is located at BS764383. At 1200hrs Alpha Company is located at BS763377 and by 1437hrs Alpha Company at BS767355 found a fresh grave with body of 20, male, appeared to have been killed by artillery, results 1 VC KIA. While at this observed 2 VC with packs moving east at BS773533 engaged with negative results. At 1800hrs Alpha Company at BS765350 which they established as their Night Defense Position. At 1935hrs Alpha Company observed at BS773372 6 VC with packs and weapons, are calling in artillery, VC moving to the east artillery on target results unknown.
Bravo Company
June 30, 1968
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder at 0720hrs Bravo Company ambush at BS796399 received small arms fire, they closed and CIA 2 VCS and 2 M-1 MACV. Reported VC in area, checked VCS they are RDC. Negative casualties, negative damage and released to MACV control. Bravo Company 1st Platoon is at the base of Thunder beginning to move 2nd Platoon at BS801398. At 1355hrs Bravo Company at BS855367, received approximately 8 rounds of sniper fire, negative casualties returned fire with negative results.
Charlie Company
June 30, 1968
At 0755hrs Charlie Company is being to move out from their night positions. At 1204hrs Charlie Company is located at BS893275 found a base camp, not used lately, bunkers and hootch’s. At 1211hrs Charlie Company reports a element at BS855273. At 1805hrs Charlie Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS846256.
Delta Company
June 30, 1968
At 0755hrs Delta Company is at BS886250 with the 2nd Platoon at BS887248, and 3rd Platoon at BS924273 and Delta Company starts working toward LZ Charlie Brown with Command Post closing at 1310hrs and at 1515hrs General Cooksey arrived on LZ Charlie Brown Departed at 1535hrs. At 1805hrs Delta Company is working out of LZ Charlie Brown. SGT John E, Geib reported sick to the 23rd Medical Battalion at 0700hrs and was attached.
Echo Company
June 30, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support Battalion. Recon Platoon is finishing up their Stand Down.
