Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0645hrs LATE SPOT MACV Duc Pho at 290800hrs at grid BS807376 a civilian restaurant exploded resulting in 1 RF, 1 PF, 1 ARVN and 2 civilians were Dusted Off to Chu Lai (requested at 0930hrs, completed at 0955hrs). At 1815hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 31 is on station. At 0926hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation for Recon 310600hrs to 311500hrs, grid BS787387 with 1,000 meters radius, Duc Pho (TY) 4 ARVN (Can) and Brigade (RKC). At 1100hrs RF 172 on 301100hrs at BS764589 while on a Search and Clear mission found a small cache containing 3 US grenades, 1 Chi Com grenade, 1 US pistol belt, assorted pull type fuses, all items were destroyed confirmed by US. At 1305hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assaults for Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta Companies 1st PZ 1136 and Last PZ at 1220hrs. At 1610hrs Med Cap is completed at this time, 1007 total treated at grid BS7653 (582) and BS7352 (425). At 2036hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 1, Bravo 2 and Charlie 4 for a total 7 out. At 2235hrs LATE SPOT At 302000hrs 4 ARVN Recon made contact with unknown size enemy force with results 2 VC KIA, 5 Chi Com grenades CIA, at grid BS820312. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
July 30, 1971
Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. Alpha and Charlie Company conducts Combat Assault 1st PZ 1136hrs and last LZ 1200hrs. Alpha Company moving out to BS764356 and their Patrol Base at BS756352 and at 1953hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post at BS757353 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2011hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is at BS722444 and 2nd Platoon is at BS724451 with 2 Mechanical Ambushes out. At 2112hrs 1st Platoon has a snake position at BS716436.
Charlie Company
July 30, 1971
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1136hrs 1-20 Infantry reports the Charlie, Alpha and Delta Companies is conducting a Combat Assault 1st PZ 1136hrs and last LZ at 1220hrs. Charlie Company 1st Platoon moving out to BS756366, Charlie Company while going into LZ received 10-15 rounds AK 47 fire, also heard AK 47 fire to the southeast and north northeast. Charlie Company found 2 booby traps in LZ, (1) founds a 175 Artillery round old and marked by 2 crossed sticks 24" long, had trip wire attached but was no set up (2) Other booby trap was a 60mm mortar round with trip wire was a 60mm mortar round both old located on a trail. Also found 1 baseball frag suspected dropped by VC, also in area found what is believed to be a helicopter frame, or parts of. At 1540hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon moving out to BS736356. At 1643hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon closed on BS739356. At 2035hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is in their Night Defense Position at BS738362 and 2nd Platoon at BS724451 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company
July 30, 1971
Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0851hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon spotted 6 to 8 VC, 2 confirmed with weapons, wearing green on black and gray uniforms. They seemed to be setting up an ambush at grid BS753368 swept area and found 1 12 year old detainee wearing black and red, was sent in on back haul. At 0925hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon 3 Vietnamese children brought in 1 M-72 Law, they gave the children C Rations and some Piasters, Serial # S2638. Delta Company Conducts a Combat Assault along with Alpha and Charlie Companies 1st PZ 1136hrs and last LZ at 1220hrs Delta Company is located on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Echo Company
July 30, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
