Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0625hrs E Troop is moving out at this time and going on Charlie Company internal. At 1201hrs Brigade Intelligence Report rated C-3, SIA 30 July 1970 on 28 July at BS648599 C-18 is reported to have strength of 60 men, there mission is to collect food. At BS797464 to BS791463, rated D-3, SIA 30 July 1970 on 28 July 1 squad of guerillas with a number of VC Cadre from Pho Loi village armed with individual weapons, mission to collect taxes and establish spy system. Among these people are Le Thinh Village secretary, also Huyn-Tan Phien, security cadre and Nguyen-Can nurse. At 1725hrs Mo Duc Rich cache update from Major Whitt Senior Advisor Mo Duc District-29 July –found 3 tons and extracted to Mo Duc and 30 July found total of 15 tons extracted 13 tons to Mo Duc with 2 tons of which were not edible. At 2335hrs North OP radar picked up 4 to 5 stationary personnel at GS730407 expended 3 4.2 HE mortar rounds. Legend: 1st Platoon 52-57, 2nd Platoon 34-39, 3rd Platoon 72-77, 4th Platoon 42-47 and Commanding Officer -70.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
July 30, 1970
Alpha Company will be using multiple patrols in their Area of Operation today. At 0920hrs Alpha Company the 25 patrol is at BS726611, the 74 patrol is at BS731625, the 76 patrol is at BS730610 and the 15 patrol is at BS733620. At 0930hrs Alpha Company 74 element at BS731625 patrol found one sandbag full of shrapnel, in a (waterproof) bag with 3 ID’s two ID were VC, 1 was a good ID. Also found a couple of diaries, they will extract items on re supply helicopter. The Kit Carson Scout states all 3 IDs belong to the same person, and he is a rice collector and propaganda spreader. At 1640hrs Alpha Company 54 element is moving out on patrol to BS740611. At 1900hrs Alpha Company the 76 element is moving out on ambush to BS732912.
Bravo Company
July 30, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0625hrs Bravo Company at BS733656 a priority Dust Off was requested for 1 RD Cadre. He has a gunshot wound to his left arm; the RD was on guard when he received a stray round. It unknown as was it a sniper or not, Dust Off completed at 0643hrs by Bird # 57. At 0703hrs Bravo Company 56 element is moving out to BS682606, the 35 element closed on BS747666 and the 55 element is at checkpoint 1. At 1135hrs Bravo Company Intelligence report PF Company received word from the Village Chief of Duc Phuon that the people say there are 2 platoons of VC at grids BS739630- BS734629 and BS739626 rated F6. At 1700hrs Bravo Company 36 element is moving out on ambush to BS720633. At 1925hrs Bravo Company at BS741651 the 70 element found 1 bunker, 5’ X 3’and the bunker was destroyed. The element also found some haystacks and there were 4 KIA 3 males, dressed in Blue Uniforms, 20, 25, 25 and 1 female 20, dressed in blue uniform, no weapons or ID and 1 US 45 cal pistol was found in water. Also found 1 pair black pajamas, 1 bandage and cooking utensils. Two groups were headed towards hills and northeast. There were negative weapons and negative ID.
Charlie Company

At 0610hrs Charlie Company at BS769567 an urgent Dust Off was called for 1 US who received gunshot wounds to both legs and arms line #150. The 35 element saw movement and open fire and the 32 element received the fire Dust Off completed at 0627hrs. At 0600hrs at BS755607 the 53 element engaged 9 Personnel 2 jumped up in front of element, results is 2 VC KIA, they engaged at 50 meters while the rest evaded south. CIA items, documents, 2 US pistol belts, 2 AK47’s, 15 Chi Com grenades, 5 AK 47 loaded magazines and 1 US M-26 frag. At 0800hrs Charlie Company at BS733656 the 36 element has found buried in a hedge row that following, 2 US pistol belts, 1 Chi Com grenade, 1 Hand grenade (home-made), 1 NVA canteen, black PJ bottoms, diary. They will evac. At 1705hrs Charlie Company at BS755575 the 56 element has 3 KIA. There were 2 male, 30, 18 and 1 female 35 engaged at 50 meters and also detained 1 male 17 WIA. And 1 female 45 with no weapons, no ID, found rice, documents, clothes, Dust Off was completed at 1835hrs for 1 WIA VC. Charlie Company is now moving to Night Defense Position at BS743561. At 1845hrs Charlie Company is moving out for Night Defense Position at BS743561, the 52 element is moving out on ambush to BS748582 and the 32 is moving out on ambush to BS756549 at 2030hrs Charlie Company all ambushes and Night Defense Position are in their location. At 0640hrs 1LT William K Harker was evac to the 91 EVAC with frag wounds to both arms and legs.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Security Mission for the Access Road.
Echo Company
July 30, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry (Jump Command Post).
