Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1010hrs 1-20 Infantry Swift Boats, 1006hrs at BS9423 received sniper fire took 1 hit in stern, returned fire with 50 caliber Machinegun, sniper fire stopped. At 1717hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC requests Swift Boat be off shore at BS925290 no later then 0615hrs on 31 July 1968. To assist: in Combat Assault contact Oxbow command frequency. Notified Swift Boats will be in position at 0615hrs. At 1717hrs Request 2 Scout Dogs and 2 handlers to work with Alpha Company pick up at 0700hrs southeast pad return at end of day.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continue with their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1717hrs request 2 scout dogs and 2 handlers to work with Alpha Company, pick up at 0700hrs Southeast Pad and return at the end of day for tomorrow.
Bravo Company

At 1535hrs Bravo Company all elements at BA TO but 10 located at BS543312. At 1719hrs Bravo Company (-) is located at BA TO with 10 at BS546308.
Charlie Company
July 30, 1968
At 0825hrs Charlie Company location is at BS768385. At 0838hrs Charlie Company at BS763382 found a tunnel complex 1st 4 High 7-8 wide and 60 meters long, 2nd 4 high 10 wide and 20 meters long, 3rd 7 high and 4 wide and 20 meters long, 4th 7 high 7 wide and 20 meters lone. Havent been used recently will destroy. At 0850hrs Charlie Company at BS765387, 2nd 4 by 4 by 5 and 10 meters long. Not used recently and will destroy. At 1334hrs Charlie Company at BS763386 found a tunnel T shaped 4 high and about 10 meters long with 2 smaller tunnels running from it. At 1815hrs Charlie Company location is as follows 1st Platoon BS766389, 12 at BS754391, 13 at BS754398, and 2nd, 3rd platoons and Command Position in their Night Defense Position at BS763400.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 0708hrs Delta 30 at BS915259 found 2 old M-16 magazines, will destroy in place. At 1045hrs Delta Company at BS933257 observed 2 VC, with Command and Control helicopter working area over saw further movements called Artillery on enemy location. At 1510hrs Delta Company (-) is at Charlie Brown with 20 at BS908197, 30 BS929255, 23 BS895202, 24 BS905206. And at 1815hrs Delta Company also reports ambushes at 11 BS934220, 20 BS913203, 25 BS903201 and 30 BS922279.
Echo Company
July 30, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0850hrs Recon Platoon at BS513676, while moving northward in creek bed observed 5 VC engaged and had 1 VC KIA, dressed in dark green PJ with full pack which had 1 blue, 1 black and 1 green uniform. VC had web gear, NVA pistol belt, canteen, 2 grenades. The other 4 VC evaded north dressed in Khaki uniform and 3 in black PJ. Found wallet with picture in it, it could be of base camp, because of barbwire. VC had lots of paper in pack. Indicates VC was an officer of some type. At 1215hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS515677. At 1405hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS527704, CPT Rhinhardt can come anytime to pick up documents. At 1815hrs Recon Platoon reports their Night Position at BS568688.
