Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0330hrs MACV Mo Duc Compound at BS730541 took 3 rounds of mixed 60/82mm fire, negative casualties, enemy location approximately BS7155. At 0345hrs MACV OP at BS751502 is under attack, possible a company sized element Gun Ships requested and Gun Hips on Station at 0345hrs. At 0530hrs MACV wrap up, the attack at Cau Mau BS751502 OP consisted of a mortar attack, then 2 VC ground attacks, which were both repelled Gun Ships came on station, the VC then broke station. Results 5 VC KIA, 2 AK 47, believed to have more outside the compound. At 0600hrs Bravo Company reports Blue Ghost picked up US KIA at Bravo 63 location. At 0645hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Shark 8 is on station for Visual Recon at BS7850. 1-20 Infantry if any elements move into BS7261, BS7454, BS7663, BS7856, MACV Mo Duc would like to be notified these are suspected enemy mortar locations for used during the elections. At 1415hrs Helix 34 spotted 2 rectangular buildings in BS759373 and BS752383, also on ridge from BS775316 to BS783326, he saw a great deal of traffic and what looked like bunkers. At 1640hrs 1-20 Infantry Vietnamese child showed our access road security a spider hole close to the access road, said there were VC in it, Recon checked it out found 1 105mm round which they destroyed. Legend 1st Platoon 23-28, 2nd Platoon 83-88, 3rd Platoon 63-68 and CO is 34.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1800hrs Alpha Company 34 element routine Dust Off requested for line #F-2158, spitting up blood, completed at 1807hrs, Alpha Company 30, 53 and 83 is moving to Night Defense Position at BS706547.
Bravo Company
August 30, 1970
At 0150hrs Bravo Company 63 element took RPG in their Night Defense Position from BS713582 artillery being called in have 3 VC snapper in the wire have 3 VC KIA. Request Gun Ships and flare ships. At 0300hrs Bravo Company 63 element at BS712584 request Urgent Dust Off for 5 US wounded by RPG, Dust Off completed 0400hrs made by Blue Ghost, 1 US KIA SP4 Jim Rhead. Blue Ghost on station picked up US KIA at Bravo 63. Bravo Company 88 element operations will be canceled starting today they will be attached to Bravo 63 element. At 0640hrs Bravo Company spot Report 63 element has 4 AK47, 50 Chi Com grenades, 1 40pound shape charge, 5 VC KIA. SP4 JIM MARBLE RHEAD LISTED AS KHA. Bravo Company reports that PVT Robert Van Norman with multiple frag wounds both legs, both arms and face, PFC James E. Shaw with superficial corneal abrasion to left eye and SP4 Joseph R. Finney with frag wound to left leg possible FX left tibia where evac to 91st Evac Hospital also PFC Jeffery T. Speake with frag wound head treated at Bravo Company 23 Medical. Charlie Bravo Company also reports the following treated in field and released PFC Michael D. Sullivan with frag wounds right leg, PFC Larry W. Robbins (?) frag wounds to right leg, PFC John M. Reynolds with frag wound to right arm, SP4 Bernard Flythe frag wound left leg, SGT Raymond L. Sander (L) with frag wounds left leg, PFC Lorenzo D. Noiel with frag both arms and face, SP4 Willie J. Allen with frag wound to bottom Lip and SSGT Ronald S. Morgan with frag wound both legs.
Charlie Company

At 0703hrs Charlie Company 65 element closed on 738419 and the 83 element is at Day Logger at BS716434. At 0749hrs Charlie Company 83 element received from baby-san Tran-Anhthe following 1 105 round, 2 60mm rounds, 2 unknown fuses, 1 hand frag, 12 M-16 rounds in magazine, found at BS724442, needs about 20 piasters to pay for this. At 1038hrs Charlie Company 34 element bought 1 dud M-79 round, and 1 105 round at BS773361 from Vietnamese children, cost 300 piasters and rounds where destroyed. At 1120hrs Charlie Company 25 element located a tunnel at BS726418 looks like it was used in the last 3-7 days. Tunnel goes in a 2 direction and crystallized CS was requested, Tunnel was CS at 1830hrs. At 2055hrs Charlie Company the 63 element in Night Defense Position at BS730408, the 67 element is moving out to BS735399 and closed on location at BS735399.
Delta Company

Delta Company used Day Loggers and Saturation Patrolling of the Area of Operation. At 0709hrs Delta Company 34,83 and 53 elements in Day Logger at BS773361, the 23 and 63 in Day Logger at 63 in their Day Logger at BS755375. The 65 element is moving out to BS754380 and 66 is moving to BS760377. At 1630hrs Delta Company 34 requests Routine Dust Off for line 27P at BS773361, high fever of unknown origin completed at 1643hrs. At 1735hrs Delta Company 26 found 2 booby traps at BS747395, 1 was in a hedgerow attached to a string that stretched across a opening in a hedgerow undermined type or amount of explosives. The second one was can of Petna set to explode when metal to metal contact is made, both were blown in place. At 2010hrs Delta Company 34, 53 and 83 elements in Night Defense Position at BS777370. At 2035hrs Delta Company reports 81 in location at BS774371, 85 in location at BS776373, 23 in locations at BS755393. Also the 27 element in location at BS759395, 63 at BS764388, 64 in location at BS762383 and the 66 element is at BS735390. PFC OTTO STONE WAS LISTED AS KIA, (Crown) at Duc Pho had just joined Delta Company from Alpha Company with head wound.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0455hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 with total expended 10 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry. At 1640hrs 1-20 Infantry Vietnamese child showed our access road security a spider hole close to the access road, said there were VC in it, Recon checked it out found 1 105mm round which they destroyed.
