Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Custer and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0510hrs Concord Black is on station checking Nighthawk Box 56 and at 0516hrs broke station unable to check Box 54 because of the weather. At 0840hrs Concord is on station working Air Calvary Box 55. At 1115hrs Brigade requested an Air Lift for Alpha Company, Charlie Company and Delta Company from LZ Vanguard to LZ Custer open at BS512573. At 1115hrs To Brigade from 1-20 Infantry Request 7 hook sorties from LZ Vanguard to LZ Custer at BS512571. At 14300hrs Intelligence: From Quang Ngai Rating C-3 on 31 August NVA Battalion 21st Regiment moved from Nghia Hanh to a new location at BS588455, size 200 men well armed mission unknown. At 2038hrs Concord Black is on station working Nighthawk Boxes 54 and 56and broke station at 2125hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
September 2, 1971
Alpha Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard. At 0845hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon moving out on patrol to BS577427 and returned back to LZ Vanguard.
Bravo Company
September 2, 1971
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard.
Charlie Company
September 2, 1971
At 1125hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon closed on BS632457 and then changed their Night Defense Position to BS634457 and will use BS632457 as their PZ in morning. At 1952hrs Charlie Company closed on their Night Defense Position at BS634453.
Delta Company
September 2, 1971
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard. At 0925hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon starts their air move at 1115hrs for a security patrol around LZ Vanguard and at the 1-20 Infantry told the airlift, is on for September 3, 1971.
Echo Company
September 2, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Custer, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
