Headquarters and Headquarter Company
September 2, 1969

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0600hrs Passed Command Message on to all Companies (Always maintain all around Security). At 0937hrs S-2 out of the 9 VCS, will send in 4 of them 1 males, 3 female, negative ID, one female member of women’s association and male is 59 years old. Female ages 20, 27, and 31. At 1250hrs FAC 33 request clearance for air strike at grid BS718389, grid is clear. At 1300hrs Convoy is at LZ Liz at this time.

Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. LZ Bronco 1-20 at 1915hrs had one person go berserk, moving south from Bronco, loud speaker system has been set up to try and talk to the individual. At 2230hrs LZ Bronco PP/SI-5 picked up 3-5 persons moving south at BS836402, fired 12 HE rounds of 105 Artillery and at BS826404 picked up 3-5 persons and fired 24 HE 105 Artillery rounds. At 2350hrs LZ Bronco PP/SI-5 picked up 7-9 persons at BS827365 and fired 6 81mm rounds with 24 HE 105 Artillery rounds. At BS829364 picked up 7 persons and fired 6 81mm mounds with 24 HE 105 Artillery rounds.

 

Alpha Company
September 2, 1969

At 0807hrs Alpha Company reports we have 3 Vietnamese at our location who claim to have escaped from the NVA. We will turn them over to MACV district Headquarters at MO Duc. Alpha Company used their Night Defense Position at BS728550 as a Day Logger and continued to Sweep and Clear operation in their Area of Operation.

 

Bravo Company
September 2, 1969

At 0415hrs Bravo Company my 92 element has closed on my location and at 0440hrs the 62 element and the RF-PF are now at my location. At 0450hrs we are now leaving our Night Defense Position also our 69 element has closed and are moving out with my element at this time. At 0610hrs The PF is now in position and will starting our Sweep and Clear Operations and at 0705hrs Bravo Company has 9 VCS 7 females and 2 males. At 0800hrs completed sweep to Red Ball, no results other then 9 VCS and returning to Day Logger our old Night Defense Position. At 0820hrs Bravo Company is located at BS767449 and at 1010hrs Bravo Company is at BS775451. At 1410hrs Bravo Company 63 element and little people are out looking for lost mail, and the Bravo 93 is checking out the route to tonight Night Defense Position. At 1435hrs Bravo Company 63 and little people closing on the Bridge. At 2000hrs Bravo Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS772455.

 

Charlie Company
September 2, 1969

At 0740hrs Charlie Company 92 element just moved out on today Recon in Force Operation. At 1010hrs Charlie Company working from Day logger at BS719462 62 element is running Recon in Force patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1255hrs The 62 Recon in Force have 5 VC under watch at grid BS735449, they are burying something behind an old hootch. At 1336hrs Charlie Company is at BS714462. At 1900hrs Charlie Company is now leaving Day Logger position. At 1936hrs moved into their Night Defense Position at BS719462, both snakes in position.

 

Delta Company
September 2, 1969

Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 2305hrs Delta Company reports a trip flare went off on Bunker 18 and detonated a frag grenade, SGT Harry Davis received small frag in head, will be sent to Duc Pho tomorrow for X-Rays.

 

Echo Company
September 2, 1969

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0600hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 6, Observed Missions 3, Defense Targets for a total expended 81 HE and 2 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1330hrs Tracks and Recon are linked up and moving out at this time. At 1640hrs Recon and tracks have closed on LZ Liz at this time. At 2152hrs Sensor People reports definite reading on sensors 12, 13 and 14 (note) 4.2 Mortar is being fired.
