Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs MACV Duc Pho at BS798398 a Vietnamese Lambretta hit a mine, results 3 Vietnamese KIA and 3 WIA, MACV carried the WIA to 6th Support A and D with 2 treated and released and 1 was kept for treatment, type of mine unknown. At 0917hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS921211, Mine sweep team received 3-5 rounds, fire come from vicinity BS917205, negative casualties and returned fire with negative results. At 0955hrs Military Police with National Police and 3 APC from E Troop will be working in grid BS8440 from 1000 to 1600hrs 2 September 1968. At 0930hrs 1-20 Infantry at BS900202 found 1 dud 4.2 Mortar round set up for simulated command detonation, destroyed and continued mine sweep also found a few Punji stakes, destroyed. At 1103hrs (1-20 Infantry TOC) Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS918175 had a ¾ ton tuck moving north which received automatic weapons fire from western side of road. The truck was disabled, EM go out of truck and received a M-79 round with results 2 US WIA, frag wounds in head, neck and back. E Troop APC took EM to LZ Lowboy where they were Dust Off. At 1400hrs E Troop location of elements is BD843407. The element that moved to TF Garcia has 10 APC and this leaves 2 APC for MACV in Duc Pho, 4 at LZ Bronco and 2 on bridge 111 each night.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0305hrs Delta Battery 6-11 Artillery report little people received 2 harassment mortar rounds west of 6-11 Artillery location. At 1535hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer we have a man pinned down under a M260 earth mover, request assistance at BD711611, notified 6th Support Battalion and sent 2 wreckers to help raise the M260 up enough to get the man out.
Alpha Company

At 0817hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS784380. At 0935hrs Alpha Company reports at BS783387 found 12 M-16 magazines loaded and 20 loose rounds inside a ammo can hidden in a hedgerow. At 1455hrs Alpha Company at BS783387 found ammo can with assorted documents, a diary and a list of VC Names also billfold with pictures will evac to Bronco. At 1806hrs Alpha Company at BS778383 with ambushes at BS781391, BS782385, BS786380, BS769388, BS773378 and BS781375.
Bravo Company
September 2, 1968
At 0817hrs Bravo Company is located at BS874349 and at 1010hrs Alpha and Bravo Company reports no change. At 1556hrs Bravo Company at BS878344 and at 1600hrs bravo Company at BS878338 engaged 2 VC evading results 1 young boy and 1 female were wounded, both were Dust Off completed at 1630hrs. The (1-20 Infantry) LRRP at 1710hrs at BS817305 observed carrying party of 5 people with packs and bundles engaged with artillery result unknown. At 1805hrs Bravo Company reports their Night Defense Position BS878346 with ambushes at BS868347, BS872343, and BS874340.
Charlie Company
September 2, 1968
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder with LRRP farmer and Texas at BS772352 and BS822295 and Charlie 10 at BS844307. At 1302hrs Charlie Company 10 at BS845307 CIA 2 VCS were hiding in a false ceiling in a hooch, 1 17 year old had ID other was 29 years old with no ID. At 1545hrs Charlie Company at BS844307 set fire to a hooch, an explosion went off causing 1 US WHA, frag in left leg, Dust Off completed at 1630hrs. At 1805hrs Charlie Company locations LZ Thunder with ambush at BS860299 and LRRP Farmer at BS772351 and Texas at BS820294.
Delta Company
September 2, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and at 0817hrs hasn’t reported any new locations. At 0843hrs at BS822212, received small arms fire from BS917203 and will return fire with Artillery on enemy location. At 1010hrs Delta Command Post is now at BS897229, with the 1-20 Infantry LRRP at 1710hrs the vicinity BS817305 observed carrying party 5 persons with back and bundles, engaged with artillery result unknown LRRP Farmer BS772351 and Texas BS820294. Delta Company reports at 1710hrs in Night Defense Position at BS898231 with ambushes at BS893239, BS853203, and BS892209.
Echo Company
September 2, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 0817hrs Recon Platoon report their location at BS791285. At 1010hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS807283. At 1556hrs Recon Platoon has add a ambush at BS807279. At 1805hrs Recon Platoon reports their location as no change.
