Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0330hrs LZ Max is now receiving incoming mortar fire. At 0415hrs LZ Max has 3 KIA, 11 WIA Vietnamese from 82mm fire, estimated 25 rounds, suspected enemy grids BS7447, BS7246, last rounds fired at 0335hrs, with Artillery fired on suspect grids. At 0620hrs TMF S-61B 3 packs moving east to west at 3 miles per hour, metal confirmed and engaged at 0617hrs with 6 VT rounds 105 Artillery. At 0910hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary while moving through BS663564 accidentally ran over 1 55-gallon drum full of rice partially buried. At 0945hrs Brigade all bunkers are to be inspected by an officer daily to detect sifting of sandbags, deterioration of bunkers to prelude injury or death. A Daily report is required to Brigade until further notice. At 1055hrs Brigade Area of Operation extension request of 4th Regiment Date/Time/Grid 030600hrs to 082400hrs October 1970 BS7052 to BS4552 to BS8345 to BS810438, northwest along river to BS788450 to start. Approved by CPT Parker cancelled B-42. At 1130hrs 1-20 Infantry permission granted for 4.2 and 81mortar to stay on LZ Dragon for approximately 5 days at 1100hrs the 4.2 mortar Platoon is on LZ Dragon. At 1435hrs Blue Ghost 26 on station at 1435hrs and working in boxes #68X and 69X and completed their Visual Recon with negative findings, and broke station at 1515hrs. At 1535hrs Bravo Company 1-1 Calvary reports all elements at the 26 location at BS676557. At 1800hrs LZ Liz all bunkers are safe and have plumb bobs, except 1 in Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery, 1 learning, but no one living in it. At 2119hrs TMF at 2100hrs S-72B sighted stationary target, metal confirmation and engaged at 2115hrs with 8 VT rounds 105 Artillery. At 2040hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon 1-20 Infantry had a short round HE land in vicinity of Thach-Tru, notified MACV Mo Duc and Duc Pho, Mo Duc reported that the round did not land in any populated area. Legend: 1st Platoon 54-59, 2nd Platoon 84-89, 3rd Platoon 34-39, 4th Platoon 04-09 and CO 12.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is moving out to BS720433. At 1630hrs Alpha Company routine Dust Off for 1 US # B8286 cut himself in foot with a machete completed 1645hrs. Alpha Company 86 in location at BS720433, the 34 element is moving to Night Defense Position at BS729414, 54, 04 and12 elements moving out to BS710435. At 2008 Alpha Company all elements in location Night Defense Position 37 at BS748406, 55 at BS708439, 84 at BS727457 and 85 at BS738458.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company is using multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 2010hrs Bravo Company all element in location the 56 ambush BS713632, 87 ambush BS738657 and 38 ambush BS709580.
Charlie Company
October 2, 1970
At 0040hrs Charlie Company is moving into their new Night Defense Position at BS720534. Due to the weather and flooding in the Area of Operation, Charlie Company will just use defensive patrolling and sweep around their Area of Operation.
Delta Company
October 2, 1970
Delta Company is working their Area of Operation with patrols, at 0435hrs water level around the 54 element going down. At 0630hrs Delta Company the 54 element joint the Main Delta unit and continued to work Search and Clear operations and patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0940hrs Delta Company 54 element is at Checkpoint 2 vicinity BS661577, the 34 element checkpoint 2 at BS677577 and 85 is moving out for BS665580. At 1030hrs Delta Company the 34 element is closing on BS667576, 35 the element closing on BS667576, with the 85 element at checkpoint 2 at BS669582.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion has moved to LZ Dragon closed at 1100hrs for 5 Days to provide fire support. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry and LZ Liz. At 2040hrs Echo Company reports at BS765459 found 1 4.2 Mortar round has fell short and landed vicinity of Thach Tru expected grid of impact was BS765459. Notify MACV at Duc Pho and Mo Duc MACV units will check for injuries, report negative injuries.
