Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. The 4.2 Ammo Report we had 1 Observed Mission for a total expenditure of 8 HE rounds. Delta Company is still OPCON to the 4-21 Infantry.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
October 2, 1969
At 0606hrs Alpha Company reports my 55 snake has closed on LZ Liz. At 0646 Alpha Company reports my 76 element engaged one male evading he was carrying some rice and bags. He dropped these and hid in a rock formation. At 1335hrs Utility is on station Tail #223. We are trying to get him out at this time. At 1950hrs the 82 snake is in location. Alpha Company continued to have the Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Bravo Company
October 2, 1969
At 0650hrs we are leaving the Night Defense Position we are moving to our Day logger. At 0710hrs Bravo Company we are now in our Day Logger at BS779450. All snakes have closed on Day Logger at 1000hrs. At 1950hrs Bravo Company all snakes are in location except for Ranger element. They are 200 meters south of their snake location and they will stay there all night.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company set up blocking force for PF sweep and at 0645hrs Charlie Company request a priority Dust Off for 1 female VCS. She was evading and the little people shot her while making a sweep, she was 26, no ID and shot above her left breasts, Dust Off is completed at 0739hrs. At 0927hrs Charlie Company we are now in our it way to Day Logger at BS821431, pick up 2 detainee 1 male 22-29, with many ID, and 1 female 20-24, no ID. At 1052hrs Charlie Company 72 when moving out found a booby trap and blew it in place. At 1225hrs Charlie Company report on booby trap the 72 element found (the firing device was a metal contact type with a RPC-25 battery, buried nose up and appear to be new). At 1415hrs Charlie Company 1-20 Infantry BS821431 found 1 sewing machine and baskets and extracted sewing machine to LZ Bronco. At 1515hrs Charlie Company has evac 2 detainee to LZ Bronco.
Delta Company

Delta Company used a Recon in Force to move to BS854244 by 0930hrs, 1000hrs at BS855245 and at 1205hrs at BS852235. Delta Company established their Night Defense Position at BS825234. SP4 Joseph F. Altken was evac to 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company
October 2, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. The 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission total expend 8 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0035hrs Recon Platoon we are leaving the wire at LZ Liz at this time. At 0253hrs Recon we are now at our objective BS764443. At 0640hrs Recon Platoon we have moved through our objective with negative results. We are checking out a couple of small tunnels at grid BS746443. At 0707hrs Recon Platoon while making search through Ville picked up 5 VCS, 3 males age 20-23 years old and 2 females 20 to 28 years old. The Vietnamese think the VCS will give good information and should be brought in for more questioning. At 0720hrs Recon Platoon we are moving toward LZ Liz and closed on LZ Liz at 0800hrs.
