Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Helix 39 at 0722hrs is putting in an air strike at BS785860 the target is bunkers and trench lines. At 0822hrs E Troop is located at LZ Dottie. At 1004hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request 2 scout dogs and handlers to operate with Recon Platoon and Dogs will be picked up at 0630hrs 3 October from southeast pad and notify dogs will be ready. At 1129hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Bravo Company 39 Engineer reports at 1054hrs at BS609904 road sweep team received approximately 800 rounds of automatic weapons fire, one by pass was blown and 2 culverts were blown. The road is expected to be open by 1200hrs. Bravo Company has trenches along side of road and when fire started a PF and Vietnamese jumped into the trench line and both were killed by booby tap, negative casualties. At 1109hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports E Troop at BS573822 spotted approximately 15 Vietnamese, evading to the West 2 went into a small village, E Troop has villages surrounded and are checking for them now. At 1222hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports E Troop at BS570819 detained 1 VCS hiding in a ditch, individual had no ID and found concrete bunkers beneath hootches nearby will evac individual to LZ Dottie for questioning. At 1305hrs E Troop at BS577829 detained 1 VCS evading results, age 35-40 no ID will evac to LZ Dottie. At 1338hrs E Troop at BS577822 engaged 1 VCS evading results 1 VCS WIA CIA, no ID was evac to 312 Evac Hospital.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1545hrs US Navy reports at BS921190 truck received automatic weapons fire and M-79 rounds, 2 M-79 rounds hit truck causing minor damage, had negative casualties and truck continued on to LZ Charlie brown. At 1930hrs Alpha sector reports 2 trucks in ambush at BS800395 have entered main gate LZ Bronco they belong to 174 Aviation with negative casualties, 2 ½ received flat tire.
Alpha Company

At 0822hrs Alpha Company is moving off LZ Dottie is at BS627854 and at 0935hrs Alpha Company at BS598837 found a small tunnel 6’-8’ long threw in grenade with negative assessment. At 1242hrs Alpha Company at BS579822 CIA 2 VCS, no ID, and 1 was wearing POW card dated Feb 1968 sent both into LZ Dottie. At 1338hrs Alpha Company at BS577822 engaged 1 VCS evading with results 1 VC WIA evac to 312 Evac Hospital. At 1600hrs Alpha Company is at BS575845 and establishes it as their Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company

At 0755hrs Bravo Company reports their location at BS648842. Bravo Company is on the move to LZ Dottie and to take over the Security Mission for LZ Dottie and closed on LZ Dottie at 1015hrs.
Charlie Company

At 0822hrs Charlie Company reported their location at Quang Ngai Airstrip and at 1200hrs Charlie Company again has moved to BS615718.
Delta Company

At 0718hrs Delta Company at BS555835 observed 10-15 VCS in some sort of formation, seem to have Right and Left flank security out, engaged with 81mm OP is such that it will take me into area to assess the results. At 0740hrs Delta Company observed 2 VCS running, will try and CIA them. At 0822hrs Delta Company is at LZ Buff by 1015hrs Delta Company (-) is at BS556833. At 0950hrs Delta Company found a fresh dug spiders hole, threw in grenade, negative assessment. At 1125hrs Delta Company spotted approximately 15 Vietnamese people at BS548822 moving southeast. Colonel Quinn is checking out with Command and Control helicopter. At 1425hrs Delta Company at BS556823, one US tripped a booby trap resulting in one US WHA, not serious, Dust Off to LZ Dottie. At 2128hrs Delta Company 40 spotted light fired 81mm negative assessment, fired 9 rounds light went out BS846830. SP4 Ronald C. Kiser with Frag wounds at 1425hrs was evac to the 27th Surgical Hospital and at SGT John E. Geib at 1858hrs was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital with high fever.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon reports their location at LZ Dottie. At 1222hrs Recon Platoon at BS570819 reports CIA 1 VC hiding in ditch no ID and found concrete bunkers below hootches nearby VC taken to LZ Dottie. At 1305hrs Recon Platoon at BS577829 reports they have Capture 1 VC evading, will take to LZ Dottie.
