Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0042hrs Warlord Black is in box 62 at 0042hrs and out of box at 0125hrs with negative findings. At 0220hrs Warlord is into Box 64 and break station at 0300hrs with negative findings. At 0820hrs LZ Liz Access Road mine swept at this time. At 0930hrs Boxcar 53 is on station for Administration move of Alpha Company. At 0937hrs MACV Duc Pho, RF 489 while providing security for civilian jungle clearing operation vicinity BS882316 were ambushed resulting in 2 RF KIA, 2 enemy KIA, not US confirmed. At 1110hrs LATE SPOT, PF 172 at 011930hrs vicinity BS752571, unknown size enemy force dropped 5 rounds 60mm mortar into OP and followed with small arms fire, negative casualties. At 1110hrs LATE SPOT, MACV Mo Duc at 0200hrs vicinity BS721542, VC infiltrated into Duc Thach refugee camp and assassinated member of Chien Hoi service with small arms fire, results were 1 government official KIA. At 1120hrs South OP while on security patrol found an extensive trail network and various trail markers on the south side of their hill vicinity BS755419. Also found 2 booby traps, 1 a law container with hand frag inside, 1 RPG round, they did not investigate they were both blown in place. At 1715hrs PF 182 at 1520hrs vicinity BS834357 made contact with VC while in day ambush site resulting in 1 VC KIA, 1 AK50 CIA and US Confirmed. At 1715hrs PF 187 at 1530hrs vicinity BS782435, PF shot unarmed civilian because he refused to give them a basket of fish, US confirmed, with results 1 civilian WIA. At 1925hrs LZ Liz Access Road called stating there was a sick man on bunker #2, readout as follows, SP4 McCant brought to aid station, Medic are not sure of his disposition. At 2130hrs PF 187 at 1830hrs vicinity BS778455 made contact with unknown size enemy force while on ambush, results were 1 PF WIA and no enemy casualties. At 2245hrs Warlord Black is on station for Box 64, at BS705447 found some barbed wire strung and staked running east to west and well used trails running to it. Recon by fire with negative results and at 2315hrs broke station with negative results or findings. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23, CO-64.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

At 0647hrs Alpha Company moving to link up with point at BS757438 and at 0825hrs closed on LZ Liz and Alpha Company is moving to Chu Lai for to get ready for their Stand Down.
Bravo Company
July 2, 1971
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 1925hrs LZ Liz Access Road called stating there was a sick man on # 2 Bunker readout as follows SP4 McCant brought to Aid Station, Medics are not sure of his disposition.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 0848hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to OP at BS697465. At 1610hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to BS670523hrs. At 2019hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 1st Platoon at BS681516.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0707hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon ambush closed BS697465, 2nd Platoon closed on BS708470 with Command Post and 1st Platoon in their Patrol Base at BS698472. At 0942hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is moving out to BS705469. At 1009hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS708470. At 1650hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS705469. At 1655hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS708482. At 2025hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon in Night Defense Position at BS712493, 2nd Platoon ambush is located at BS708489, 1st Platoon ambush in location at BS708479.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0600hrs Recon is moving out to LZ Liz at this time and at 0730hrs closing on LZ Liz.
