July 2, 1969
Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry is located at LZ Liz and continued their Mission and working with ARVN units in their Duc Pho Area of Operations. At 0855hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request FIRE FLY from 200hrs to 2100hrs from LZ Bronco along Highway 1 to grid 44 west to 515 east along Song Tra, north along Gaza strip to 49 South back to LZ Bronco. LATE ENTRY: At 0040hrs Bridge 124 received 8 rounds of 60mm mortar, where negative casualties or damage. At 2240hrs LZ Liz reports Southern OP spotted movement looks like large element at BS761365 and at BS739421.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. PFC Thomas C. Scott was evac to 312th Evac Hospital at 1130hrs with a possible broken back.
Alpha Company
July 2, 1969
At 0850hrs Alpha Company at BS788400 observed 150 to 200 Vietnamese females, males and children moving towards Duc Pho. At 0945hrs Alpha Company established their Day Logger Position at BS779407. At 1045hrs Alpha Company at BS780403, found several bunkers and spider holes, also the campfires were only a few days old. At BS787410 found one can with 30 (Caliber machinegun ammo). At 1700hrs Alpha Company at BS779407 detained 1 VCS (female), no ID. Alpha Company had her brought to LZ Bronco for questioning by an interpreter; she said she belonged to the Women’s VC Association. At 2045hrs Alpha Company established their Night Defense Position at BS775418 with 44 at BS771413 and 64 at BS770425.
Bravo Company
July 2, 1969
Bravo Company at 0800hrs is moving to BS776405 and at 0945hrs Bravo Company at BS737447 established their Day Logger, and will conduct saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2045hrs Bravo Company established their Night Defense Position at BS730439 with 66 at BS726436 and 46 at BS721443.
Charlie Company
July 2, 1969
Charlie Company is in their Day Logger at BS801477 at 0945hrs as they continued to use patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1105hrs Charlie Company found 1 51 caliber position, found some expended ammo on the grounds also some fighting position Char continued on their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 1700hrs Charlie Company location is at BS801471. At 2045hrs Charlie Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS801477 with the 64 element at BS796477.
Delta Company
July 2, 1969
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0700hrs Delta Company has a element moving to BS757457 at this time. At 2045hrs Delta Company has the 93 element on south OP and the 35 element is on the north OP. At 2240hrs LZ Liz reports Southern OP spotted movement looks like large element at BS761365 and at BS739421.
Echo Company
July 2, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0630hrs Recon Platoon after moving from Night Defense Position, walked into LZ Bronco.
