Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0130hrs MACV Duc Pho at vicinity BS863375 hit by mortar or artillery 4 people wounded will carry them to BS865314 for treatment will have lights to ID party. No friendly artillery fired since 1300hrs 1 July 1968. At 0355hrs Delta Company 19th Engineer at BS867316 CS agent free unknown source drifted from Northwest across Delta Company Command Post 19th Engineer action taken 100% alert with M-17 protective mask being worn. At 1040hrs Military Police report 300-500 Vietnamese moving north of Duc Pho, moving to Duc Pho to talk to Di Wee. At 1830hrs MACV PF want to run a "Road Clearing Operation" on 3 July 1968 starting from Bridge 115 will sweep 1000 meters north up Highway 1 to BS771461, chopping groups off along the way, will returned to Bridge 115 by 1500hrs. 1-20 Infantry PF will have 2 Platoons working in Road Developing Area Tomorrow will work in following locations BS808355, BS830335 and BS834350.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0910hrs CPT Wolford, found 2 foogas grenades wrapped with detonate cord with a fuse attached. Found about 25 meters in front of bunker 35 and had EOD team destroy.
Alpha Company
July 2, 1968
At 1211hrs Alpha Company is located at BS752338. At 1558hrs Alpha Company at BS748324 received 2 bursts of Automatic weapons fire with negative casualties and checking area now. At 1815hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS753388.
Bravo Company
July 2, 1968
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 0852hrs Bravo Company at BS853299 found a trip wire made of fish line across trail connected to what looked like CS grenade, but did not contain CS. Bobby trap was hidden in hedgerow will blow in place. At 1815hrs Bravo Company reports their location at LZ Thunder.
Charlie Company
July 2, 1968
At 1007hrs Charlie Company at BS854274 found a number of trails camouflaged with trees and bushes. Appeared to have been camouflaged approximately 1 month ago are checking area out at this time. At 1204hrs Charlie Company at BS893275 found a base camp, not used lately, bunkers and hooch’s. At 1211hrs Charlie Company is located at BS855273. At 1815hrs Charlie Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS865278.
Delta Company
July 2, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. Security for Bridge 94 with 1 Platoon running security patrol off of LZ Charlie Brown.
Echo Company
July 2, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0458hrs Recon Platoon is moving out at this time. At 1040hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS478516. At 1255hrs Recon Platoon at BS475516 reports observed 1 VC searching area now. At 1651hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS473519. At 1815hrs Recon Platoon their Night Defense Position at BS472519.
