Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0104hrs Saber Black 40 is on station and breaks station at 0135hrs. At 0116hrs North OP spotted vicinity BS755436 alight 25 to 30 meters from top to east. 81 Illumination is being fired and engaged with hand frag. At 0300hrs Saber Black is on station and breaks station at 0315hrs. At 0320hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC, received a call on our Command from Oscar Mike using Fluid Cones to contact TOC. Oscar Mike was old Mo Duc call sign. The word call sign, Fluid Cones instead of normal numerals and word call sign instead cones 16. Personnel spoke English. Checked with Mo Duc and Duc Pho, they stated no one had come to our Command at their location. Unknown personnel on command asked for Sit Rep on Duc Pho action taken to mean the OP’s manned by PF at BS785427 and BS789416. Once the RTO realized the incorrect call sign was being used he instantly called Command with negative response when asked for authentication. At 0600hrs Weather Reports partly cloudy with occasional rain, wind northwest at 10-18 knots, temperature 65-71, humidity 70-90%, outlook through Thursday little change. At 0745hrs Helix 37 is on station. At 0825hrs 26 Engineers report Access Road is open. Helix 34 is on Station. At 1345hrs S-4 Hornet 472 is on station for re supply. At 1345hrs Helix 34 vicinity BS781356 sighted heavily used trails, 1 temporary campfire also bright orange object on the ground calling in fire mission on BS781356. Artillery fired at 1125hrs and mission ended at 1450hrs. At 1435hrs Primo 5 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 1510hrs MACV Mo Duc requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese male wounded in auto accident. Primo 5 monitored the call and made the pick up, completed at 1515hrs and taken to 23rd Medical. At 1900hrs RF 143 vicinity BS741572 while on patrol observed 3 VC moving east at 100 meters. They engaged with small arms and called in ARVN artillery blocking fire. 1 VC KIA, the others evaded east. Results 1 VC KIA, wearing all green, 1 pistol belt, 4 M-26 hand frag, 1 Vietnamese female age 30 who was in the area when detained, she will be sent to Mo Duc with negative ID. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

At 0750hrs all ambushes closed and Bravo Company set up Patrol Bases and put out multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1000hrs Bravo Company Command Post 1st and 4th Platoon is at BS728434, 3rd Platoon at BS733457 and 2nd Platoon at BS734416. At 1112hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS723418, 3rd Platoon is moving out for BS724467 and 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS715448. At 1755hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed BS733416 and 2nd Platoon closed at BS734416. At 1940hrs Bravo Company reports their night locations Command Post 1st and 4 platoon at BS718436, 1st Platoon at BS719438, BS716434, 3rd Platoon BS739456, BS734455, BS737457, 2nd Platoon BS735413, BS735415 and BS733412.
Charlie Company

At 0830hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS703536 to check are where Artillery engaged lights last night. At 0937hrs the 1st Platoon vicinity BS703536, checking the area came across a trail sunning south. Local people say VC used it regularly, requesting tracker team. At 1205hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed vicinity BS699562. At 1220hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon on patrol vicinity BS668574 located an underground tunnel 4’ X 5’ X 20 meters long and it showed signs of recent use and it was destroyed. At 1745hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrols closed vicinity BS673572 and 1st Platoon closed at BS693538.
Delta Company

At 0720hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon ambush closed vicinity BS755574. At 0845hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon moving to BS751560. At 0950hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon closed on BS755574. At 1750hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol closed on BS755574. At 1920hrs Delta Company reports during the firing of ARVN artillery a engineer from Charlie Company 26th Engineer received minor frag wound in the shoulder, evac was not required.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry and LZ Liz. At 1954hrs Recon Platoon on the Access Road report that the little people at the South Bridge vicinity BS789416 are taking AK 47 fire.
