Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and will continue to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0655hrs Q Company IOS sighted 5 to 6 lights vicinity BS660568, got negative clearance, proximity to a build up area. At 1130hrs Warlord 38 leaving Box 67X with negative findings. At 1306hrs S-4: Dolphin 543 on station for resupply. At 1418hrs Helix 37 on station at 1418hrs and is breaking station at 1429hrs. At 1451hrs Primo 5 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter for 1 hour. At 1700hrs MACV RF 103 vicinity BS780610 found 7500 pounds of rice, evac 3,000 pounds to Mo Duc and destroyed the rest. At 1550hrs Primo 5 broke station at this time. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 92-97, 3rd Platoon 52-57, 4th Platoon 42-47 and CO 44.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0908hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon Road Security reports a 5-ton Engineer truck hit a mine on the Access road vicinity BS770436, Primo 3 and a Artillery LOH dusted off 4 personnel. Crater was 5’ deep and 7’ to 8’ in diameter appears to be a command detonated. Back-wheels of truck was disengaged, 1 man compound fracture to leg, 2 other unknown status, people were from the 39 Engineer the Mine was 3’ to the western side, of the culvert.
Alpha Company

At 0710hrs Alpha Company, 3rd and 4th Platoon and Command Post moving for BS758560. At 0808hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS736575 while checking out the area they fired up last night, found 1 VC KIA, wearing green pants and purple shirt, 25-30 years old, and had negative weapon. He was carrying a pack containing documents, map, papers, 1 set of clothes, 2 pictures and some sterile bandages also had 15 bullet holes in the body. At 1000hrs the Alpha Company 1st Platoon at Check Point1 BS748570 and 2nd Platoon moving out for BS771573. Alpha Company continued patrolling their Area of Operation. At 1030hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS739570. At 1900hrs 2nd Platoon ambush canceled Command Post, 4th Platoon at BS754563, 1st Platoon ambush BS741568, BS738569, BS740567, 3rd Platoon ambush BS756564 and 2nd Platoon Night Defense Position BS767572.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company
December 2, 1970
Charlie Company continued to use saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1115hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon closed on BS736630, 1st Platoon moving to BS740613 and 3rd Platoon is moving to BS748613. At 1900hrs 1st Platoon closed on BS740613, and the 3rd Platoon closed on BS748613. The 3rd platoon ambush at BS742613, 2nd platoon ambush BS732610, 1st Platoon ambush BS734619, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and Command Post in Night Defense Post at BS738618.
Delta Company

Action in the Area of Operation was moderate, Delta Company 2nd Platoon found a bouncing Betty, pressure release type Booby-Trap, was 2-3 months old, destroyed in place. At 0935hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is moving to BS730613, 2nd Platoon to BS739594, and 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to BS7295963. At 0840hrs (in reference to contact of 01, December 1970 vicinity BS731604): After speaking with the Company Commander he stated that his 3rd Platoon engaged 1 evading enemy with AK-47 during the contact. The evading enemy was felled by a burst from a M-60 machinegun. However another enemy had ran from a tunnel and grabbed the WIA/KIA and drug him back into the tunnel. Delta Company claims 1 enemy KIA and will search for body today. At 1500hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon ambushes moving out for BS729595 and BS722589. At 1602hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon at BS735597 spotted 4 VC with pack, moving into their contact area of yesterday. They were 700 meters to their south requested an Artillery Mission. They engaged with 16 HE rounds 155 Artillery on the target. The 3rd Platoon had 2 elements maneuvering in to check out the area. The VC had packs, but where not carrying weapons. At 1926hrs Delta Company Night Defense Position 2nd Platoon BS744587, 1st Platoon BS725617, 3rd and 4th Platoon with Command Post BS724589.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1110hrs Recon Platoon engaged 5 VC vicinity BS708435 3 had weapons, results, 2 VC KIA. Both females military age, dressed in black, they were coming down a trail, when engaged at 15 feet. 3 Enemy evaded to the northwest, they captured 2 rucksacks containing rice and ponchos. At 1212hrs Recon Platoon completed the sweep of the contact area vicinity BS708435 with negative findings. Echo Company reports PFC Lonnie E Tucker evac at 1335hrs to treat and released 91 Evac, Ambush Patrol with small arms fire and grenades, Also SGT. James B. Earheadt was treated and released from B 23 Medical, going to wake unknown guard and was WIA possible Friendly fire. At 1344hrs Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz.
