Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0205hrs 4-4 ARVN Recon with H-17 Calvary LATE SPOT REPORT Company of 4-4 made contact with unknown size enemy force vicinity BS735627 and BS740621, negative friendly casualties, 16 VC/NVA KIA and 4 weapons CIA. 4th Recon has made contact at BS734614 resulting in negative friendly casualties, 5 VC/NVA with 1 weapon CIA. Also 2-17 Calvary with 4 Recon made contact at BS725617 and BS726617 with unknown size enemy force resulting in 4 ARVN WIA, 1 APC destroyed, 19 VC/NVA KIA and 10 weapons CIA and this has US confirmed. At 0355hrs Saber 44 is on station to work Box 41 and at 0420hrs broke station with negative findings Box 41. At 0525hrs RF 169, received information from Saber 44 that bridge at grid BS771460 was in contact. Saber 44 is cleared to engage in area, 3 KIA confirmed possibly 2 more, broke station at 0555hrs reported that bridge and bunkers did not sustain any damage. At 1100hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault Alpha Company: 1. F31 LZ 0950hrs, 2. F74 LZ 1010hrs, 3. F 52/57 LZ 1036hrs, 4. F 39 LZ 1050hrs, Combat Assault is completed and AMC is off station at 1059hrs. At 1325hrs Slow Motion 3 with Battalion Commander extracted from Delta Company 1 WHA, 1US KHA at 1325hrs.At 1752hrs Delta Company has closed on LZ Dragon. At 2130hrs LZ Liz Access road security reports seeing 2 VC moving toward Vietnamese compound at 768468, engaged with small arms fire, Illumination fired. Q Company received small arms fire and automatic weapons fire from grid BS770445, engaged and Illumination fired, contact broken at 2145hrs Q Company will check area at 1st Light. At 2335hrs LZ Liz 1-20 Infantry conducts a practice alert and 100% alert over at 2340hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0120hrs MACV Mo Duc requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF with multiple frag wounds caused by incoming mortars, was completed at 0150hrs. At 2340hrs 1-20 Infantry Road Security at BS768468 enemy location at BS770445 observed 8 VC moving toward Vietnamese Compound and engaged with M-79 and small arms fire, Illumination fired and contact was broken at 2200hrs enemy evaded north with results Friendly no casualties or damage and enemy unknown results. 1LT GLENN LEE HATA IS LISTED AS KIA on HHC Morning Report (see Delta Company). Alpha Company

Alpha Company conducted a Combat Assault of Alpha Company 1st PZ 0940hrs and last LZ at 1050hrs to 634520. At 1120hrs 3rd Platoon at vicinity BS634520, at 1425hrs 3rd Platoon vicinity BS630519, at 1515hrs 2nd Platoon at BS633514, and at 1515hrs Alpha Company is at BS634514. At 1520hrs Alpha Company request Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with multiple frag wounds to legs caused by booby trap, also 1 routine with minor wounds to arm, booby trap was a can of Petna with trip wire device (#R2581 LT Roe, #L2052 Lacy). At 1925hrs 3rd Platoon at BS631519, Command Post, 4th Platoon at BS634518, 2nd and 1st Platoon at BS334516. At 1945hrs Alpha Company earlier found remains of 1 downed helicopter with remains of rotor blade, engine, pilot and co pilot seats located, in vicinity BS631511. 1LT Martin J. Roe was return to Duty from the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company used Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0650hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 4th, 2nd and 3rd Platoons is moving to BS663540. At 0712hrs Bravo Company 3rd and 1st Platoons is moving to BS652548 and at 0730hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving out to BS643557. At 1200hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 4th Platoon is at BS649542, 2nd Platoon closed on their Patrol Base at BS648567 with the 1st and 3rd Platoon at vicinity BS637535. At 1935hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 4th Platoon at BS640544, 3rd Platoon and 1st Platoon at BS640534, 1st Platoon ambush BS633531, and 2nd Platoon ambush at BS640558.
Charlie Company

At 0630hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon is moving out to LZ Liz. At 0640hrs Charlie Company Command Post 4th, 2nd platoons is moving out to LZ Liz. At 0830hrs Charlie Company all elements closed on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Delta Company

At 0705hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon moving out to Patrol Base BS667518, 3rd Platoon moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS698506. 2nd Platoon patrol is at Command Post vicinity BS678496. At 1300hrs Delta Company reported taking 60mm mortar, RPG rounds and heavy volume of small arms fire from grid BS675505. Also reported having VC/NVA inside the perimeter, total casualties are 1 US KIA, 6 US WHA, Gun-ships requested to cover Dust Off, Slow Motion 3 with Battalion Commander extracted 1 WHA, 1US KHA at 1325hrs. Dust Off 89 on station however LZ to hot to make extraction. Warlord 3 on station under cover of the gun-ship rest of personnel US WHA dusted off at 1445hrs by Dust Off 89. There was 6 WHA (I-5581, F-1751, S-1128, H-1249, S-7728 and H-1821 and H-1981 KIA). At 1752hrs Delta Company at LZ Dragon bought 1 booby trap, CBU bomblet with pressure release device from a Vietnamese boy 11 years of age, paid 2 cans of C-Ration and blew it in place. 1LT GLENN LEE HATA (Headquarters Company) was Listed as KIA.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0815hrs Recon is moving out to BS730430. At 0840hrs Recon report their location at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS730430. At 1000hrs Recon is searching vicinity BS698425. At 1747hrs Recon is in their night location vicinity BS688426.
