Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0005hrs the Fire Fly Mission broke station at 2215hrs they destroyed 3 boats and had approximately 12 VC KIA. At 0735hrs Helix 33 FAC putting in Air Strike at grid BS690437 Grid is clear nearest friendly is LZ Liz.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
September 29, 1969
At 0800hrs Alpha Company is located at BS828420 and at 0950hrs Alpha Company is located at BS786429. At 1050hrs Alpha Company closed on LZ Liz and take over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Bravo Company
September 29, 1969
At 0115hrs Bravo Company 75 element at BS782429 spotted 6 to 8 VC/NVA moving northeast, fired M-60 with unknown results. At 0145hrs Bravo Company the 75 element reports that their starlight scope picks up no more movement they have ceased fire at this time. There is a hedgerow about 30 meters from the target area and the VC/NVA may have evaded into it. The 75 element will check it out in the morning. At 0613hrs Bravo Company BS796401, in Reference to incident of finding 13 mines upon further checking all that was found was 13 neatly dug holes with shrapnel in them, but no explosive was found engineers will check further. Bravo Company at 2000hrs have moved into their Night Defense Position at BS790429, 53 BS777450, 83 BS781437, 84 BS784430, 54 BS795405, ranger squad BS789416. At 2050hrs Bravo Company at BS784430, the 85 element in ambush position had 3 individual walk to within 10 meters, engaged with small arms fire resulting in 1 NVA and 1 AK47 captured with 1 bandoleer of AK ammo also captured. A male Vietnamese with them says that there are a lot of NVA around them. The 82 element is going to move into assist them. The Weapon is possibly an AK47, but it too dark to be sure. At 2145hrs Bravo Company 82 element has taken up position on the West Side of the Red Ball.
Charlie Company
September 29, 1969
At 0630hrs Charlie Company at grid BS838403, Alpha Company just passed our location. Our 52 element blocking force is in position and will be moving out in 10 to 15 minutes. At 0925hrs Charlie Company at grid BS833406, the main element has married up with the blocking force and we will be moving out to the Day logger in a few minutes. At 0950hrs Charlie Company is located at BS833406. At 1040hrs reports our Day Logger and present location is BS845415. At 1135hrs Charlie Company at BS815415 Dust Off was completed at 1200hrs for 2 men with malaria. At 1800hrs Charlie Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS743420.
Delta Company
September 29, 1969
At 1545hrs Delta Company we are now moving out on Vehicles destination LZ Debbie and at 1650hrs Delta Company moved to LZ Debbie and OPCON to 4-21 Infantry.
Echo Company
September 29, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Targets 3 Schedule Missions 20, Observe Missions 3 total expend 146 HE, 3 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
