Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. At 1330hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC has approved the request for Area of extension from 198 Infantry Brigade. At 1340hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request 10 dogs and handlers 30 September and informed only 4 available will be at southeast pad at 0630hrs. At 1629hrs 1-20 Infantry request Area of Operation extension from 300600hrs to 301700hrs September BS6491, BS9495 and east to South China Sea, to conduct track Recon mission. At 1615hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC LRRP Cleveland a BS675868 observed 70 Vietnamese in vicinity of BS6684. Requests a FAC to check the area and LRRP Cleveland departed LZ Dottie on 27 September at 2030hs and have been in their position since that time. The FAC was not able to get off the ground because of the weather. At 1834hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports at BS634802, 2 dump trucks hauling sand from Quang Ngai to LZ Dottie, was ambushed by 6-7 small arms weapons fire. The fire came from the western side of road Highway 1 approximately 250 meters out with results 2 flat tires, and 2 holes in cab of a truck with negative casualties. At 2050hrs Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry on LZ Dottie at BS630855 received 2 rounds of 82mm Mortar rounds with no Casualties or Damage. At 2100hrs 11 Brigade reports Bravo Company 39 Engineer LZ Dottie at BS630855 Engineer element in Bunker 15, northeast side of Dottie received small arms fire with no casualties or damage.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1130hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS912263 reports a ¾ ton tuck received 1 round of M-79 fire, round hit side of truck had negative casualties. Vehicle continued to move south.
Alpha Company
September 29, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie. At 2050hrs Alpha Company BS635855 received 2 incoming rounds believed to be rocket (Size Unknown), negative casualties and negative damage. At 2100hrs B-39 engineer element Bunker #15 the northeast side received 15 rounds of small arms fire with Negative results.
Bravo Company
September 29, 1968
Bravo Company is at BS630860 and BS634860. At 1105hrs Bravo Company at BS595857 found 1 105 round possible booby trap and blew in place and at 1142hrs BS586855 found M79 rounds in hedgerow blew in place.
Charlie Company
September 29, 1968
At 0230hrs Charlie Company 23 element at BS614719 (Quang Nagai Airstrip) under 60mm mortar fired which landed 200 meters from the airstrip. At 1105hrs Charlie Company at 0958hrs BS620720 received approximate 100 rounds of small arms fire with negative casualties and at 1900hrs Charlie Company is at BS615718. At 1717hrs Charlie Company at BS615719 received several rounds of sniper fire with results were 1 US WHA Dust Off was requested. At 1900hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS615718. PFC Luia A Zapata with gunshot wounds was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital.
Delta Company

1140hrs Delta Company reports they continue to have the Security Mission for LZ Buff. Delta Company will conduct Sweep and Clear Patrols in their Area of Operation.
Echo Company
September 29, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1144hrs Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie with the Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
