Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0045hrs RF at grid BS736486 engaged 30 to 35 enemy received small arms fire and B-40 rockets, RF 103 returned fire with small arms fire and 81mm mortars enemy evaded to the west, CIA 1 PRC 10 radio, 1 AK 47 and 4 VC KIA. At 0355hrs Charlie Company SFC Goat inspected bunkers 2, 3, 4, and 5 all satisfactory. At 0415hrs Sting 295 have 2 to 3 personnel and at 0425hrs engaged with 8 HE rounds. At 0550hrs LT Neuendorf checked bunkers 6, 9, and 13 satisfactory 14 all asleep. At 0555hrs LT Humphress checked bunkers 1, 2, 15, and 16 all satisfactory. At 1317hrs Nghia Hanh request clearance for grids BS660587, BS650582, BS67058, for Artillery 105mm from 1800hrs to 0600hrs negative clearance. At 1325hrs Commanding General arrived at LZ Liz and departed LZ Liz at 1343hrs. At 1352hrs To Brigade from 1-2 S-3, Commanding General departed LZ Liz at 1340hrs Subjects discussed: General given situation briefing, Commanding General felt high threat period no over in 1-20 Infantry Tactical Area of Operation general discussion on drug amnesty, 4 ARVN regiment probably won’t be back for some time. At 1400hrs Dolphin #37 is on station and broke station at 1715hrs. At 1858hrs Bravo Company request Area of Operation extension East to 74 grid line Kit Carson Scout says relatives told him VC/NVA in village negative approval by Major Peppers. At 1952hrs Sting 295 Target C activated 2 to 3 personnel moving at 3 miles per hour and engaged at 2005hrs with 10 HE Artillery 105mm. At 2030hrs 1-20 infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 6, Bravo 6, Delta 1 for a total of 13 out. At 2215hrs LT Hodges inspected bunker 15, 16, 17 and 1 satisfactory. At 2255hrs LT Adams inspected 1, 2, 3 and 17 not satisfactory, 2 and 3 bunkers no one is on guard. At 2315hrs Priority Dust Off LZ Liz accident gunshot from M-16 wound to left hand McNeal on bunker 14-witness Chester Howard and Frank Everia. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. PFC Terry L. (McMeal sp?) was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital medic.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0716hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon found 1 Booby Trap at BS725475, was a baseball frag knee high in can, trip wire, scout dog found. At 0840hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS724471. At 1015hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 at BS695514. At 1146hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 6 at BS693503. At 1621hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon while in Patrol Base bought Booby Trap fuse bomb (yellow) with nail in top with some Petna in the bottom, Pressure release. Also 3 coke kids, 7-9 bought in 1 105 round for 6 C Ration meals, both blown in place. Alpha Company in their Night Defense Position and 2nd Platoon at 2018hrs at BS729492 observed 1 VC 300 meters away to southeast and evaded southeast called DT # 5 negative results has 6 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

At 048hrs Bravo Company at BS720430 had a Mechanical Ambush detonate and will check it out in the morning. Bravo Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0730hrs Bravo Company is moving out of Command Post and 4th Platoon patrol Base at BS725426 and 2nd Platoon to BS723440. At 0745hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is moving out to BS726459. At 0856hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon checked out the area where they thought Mechanical Ambush went off and found out it had not gone off. At 1600hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is moving out to BS724453. At 1725hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon patrol is at BS730456. At 1858hrs Bravo Company requests Area of Operation extension: East to 72 grid line, Kit Carson Scout says relatives told him VC/NVA in Village negative approved by Major Peppers. At 1900hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon received approximately 100 rounds small arms fire from the west returned small arms fire and M-79 and requested Illumination received it with negative sighting and moved to their Night Defense Position. At 2009hrs Bravo Company all in their Night Defense Position Command Post with 3rd Platoon at BS726421, 1st and 4th Platoons at BS728452 and 2nd Platoon at BS723440 with 6 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Charlie Company

Delta Company continued using Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0657hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol Base with 4th Platoon at BS654557. At 0715hrs Delta Company 2nd and Command Post to BS654557. At 1951hrs Delta Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post, 2nd Platoon at BS676541, 1st and 4th Platoon at BS666564 with 1 Mechanical Ambush.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
