Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0030hrs Brigade Air Calvary in the upper left of BS6644 and the lower right of BS7436 in the period of 290600hrs to 24 1800hrs may was approved by 1LT Ronan. At 0310hrs Nighthawk worked in box 65a with negative findings and broke station at 0400hrs. At 0702hrs TMF String 61, was activated by 6 personnel is moving southwest of northeast and at 0659hrs 6 HE of Artillery 105mm were fired at the target. At 0750hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we are working today at BS770556. At 0825hrs 26 Engineer at 0815hrs 1 D7 hit approximately 40 pounds of explosives, pressure release type, with no shrapnel. The crater was 6’ wide X 33’ deep with no casualties. 1 D7 now has 2 oil lines damaged. At 0820hrs at grid BS771442 a D7 hit an antipersonnel type mine was hit cleaving a crater 1’ X 1’, with 1 US engineer slightly injured (Sipe). A LOH Dust Off the US at 0857hrs. D7 had a damage oil line. At 1040hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry our current working location is at BS764560. At 1335hrs Nighthawk requested the nearest friendly for daylight Visual Recon. At 1400hrs Nighthawk spot report there is a well used trail, camouflaged at BS685424 running south to north and goes into deep undergrowth. At 1450hrs Brigade we extracted 23,000 pounds of rice today with a grand total of 142,500 and have 3,000 pounds ready for extraction for tomorrow. At 1500hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry we were dropped off on the Red Ball. At 1700hrs the 26 Engineer a total of 28 hours were logged today with 4 D7 operational with 1 dead lined with a poor hydraulic line which was replaced and it is now operational. 45 acres were cleared in the area BS771551 to BS765558 to BS772556. 11 bunkers, 1 155 round, 5 fighting positions and 1 US was WIA in today’s operation. At 1745hrs M26 we spotted 4 VC with weapons, carbines, standing on the new fishing Ville road and looked to be kidnapping the civilians, They herded a group of civilians off the road into the hedgerow and moved to the north. We request gun ships and were scrambled at 1747hrs grid BS774536. At 1755hrs M26 we received RPG rounds from BS773540 and believe the 4 VC captured some Chieu Hoi coming to our location. Sharks are working over the area with negative findings. At 1905hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at grid BS711554 we are finding buried rice in 200 to 300 pound caches. Also found 150 to 200 pounds in several hootches (150 to 200 pounds) in each hootch. Some bottles of vitamins were found in potato basket and are checking out the area further. At 1910hrs M26 the PF form MACV Mo Duc carried 3,000 pounds of rice from Nui on Do. At 1915hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry we found 1000 pounds of rice at BS744554. The rice was in holes under hootches and wrapped in plastic. It was in good condition and locally grown from the last harvest. It was unpolished and will be extracted to the Brigade S-5. At 1950hrs Radar sighted personnel at BS828435 with no clearance due to the proximity of Recon Platoon, at grid BS813412. At 2008hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry we are in our Night Defense Position at BS742556. At 2020hrs Radar sighted 2 to 3 personnel at BS765442 and moving west with negative clearance and believed to be the access road snake. At 2140hrs Nighthawk Box 5 southwest of LZ Liz complete at 2040hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2315hrs 1-20 Infantry S-4 was informed to have 2 bundles of sand bags at the Bud Pad at 0800hrs. SSGT Charley Barker was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1300hrs Alpha Company has moved to Chu Lai or Bronco for a Stand Down.
Bravo Company
May 29, 1970
Bravo Company continued to work with ARVN Forces in their Area of Operations using multiple patrolling with day and night ambushes. At 0530hrs Bravo 71 element is in their blocking position at BS765453 and at 0615hrs the 76 element at BS768446 found a booby trap M26 hand frag attached to a trip wire which was blown in place. At 0703hrs Bravo Company reports the 76 and 78 elements have linked up and closed with negative findings except for the booby trap reported earlier. At 0720hrs Bravo Company the 79 element is moving out to 762448. At 1900hrs Bravo Company reports the 77 element has closed and the 79 is moving out.
Charlie Company

At 1515hrs Charlie Company we have taken over the bunker line defense and Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2030hrs Charlie Company reports the access road snakes are in location. At 2030hrs Charlie Company the 17 element SRRP is at BS734429 and is in their position.
Delta Company
May 29, 1970
Delta Company continued to use Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 0920hrs Delta Company the 94 element found one booby trap 105 at BS736575 with pressure type release device. It was buried in a dyke and blown in place and at 1010hrs the 94 element found a pressure release type booby trap 155 buried in the ground at BS734579 and was destroyed in place. Delta Company was able to extract 23,000 pounds of rice today. At 1535hrs 1-20 Infantry the National Police Field Force were inserted into Delta Company 1-20 Infantry and Delta Company 4-21 Infantry. At 2005hrs Delta Company the Command Post is in their Night Defense Position at BS735568 with all snakes are in position. At 2150hrs Delta Company 95 element spotted one light approximately 500 meters to their northwest across a lake. Artillery was called causing more lights to go on and clause to scattered the suspected VC, we engaged the area with small arms and more Artillery, we did not receive any enemy fire and will check out the area at fist light.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0535hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 8 for a total expended of 27 HE and 3 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continues their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1940hrs Recon Platoon reacting on information that a Visual Recon Team spotted 4 VC KIA, was Combat Assault and swept the area with the following results: 6 VC KIA, 1 male dressed in a white shirt and black pants, 1 female dressed in black pajamas. Also 3 males dressed in khaki uniforms and 1 male dressed in a maroon shirt and black pants. The female was approximately 22 years old and the males approximately 26. Also the following items where found 2 green plastic bags, 1 handbag, 3 wallets with 2 having ID, no weapons were found at grid 813412. At 1950hrs Radar sighted personnel at BS828435 with no clearance due to the proximity of Recon Platoon at grid BS813412. At 2035hrs Recon Platoon extraction of at 2035hrs and completed at 2040hrs LZ Liz and Recon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
