Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0747hrs Delta Company 17 element spotted 2 VC wearing black pajamas with packs at 75 meters. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry received a prepared mission from Brigade to OPCON 1 rifle company to the 4-3 Infantry this PM. 4-3 Infantry Mission is to follow Artillery and Air strikes against the 21 NVA Regiment Command Post and 1 Battalion located at BS6940. At 0945hrs Alpha Company our Ajax is 90 with a PZ at BS757389. At 1745hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC our request for an extension on B67 to 301200 June 1970 was approved. At 1745hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer a total of 23 were worked clearing 39 acres at BS734601 to BS732609 to BS731601 to BS730609 with 8 bunkers, 1 105 rounds, 3 pounds of Chi Com explosives and 1 60 round was destroyed. 3 D7 are operational with 1 deadline with damage belly pan and the other with an over heating problem. At 1805hrs 1-20 Infantry we request an Area of Operation extension from the 4 Regiment in the Date/Time/Grid 010600 July 1970 indefinitely from grid BS733562 and northwest along the river tot BS688593 and northeast along Tu Nghia /Mo Duc political boundary to the ocean. We request there be a 100 meters buffer zone along the complete Area of Operation extension boundary. The purpose is for Bravo Company pacification program.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company at 0940hrs multiple Mechanical Ambush in location. Alpha reports their AJAX is 90 with Pick up Zone location at BS757389. Alpha Company Night Defense Position is at BS763387 and set up multiple snakes out tonight.
Bravo Company
June 29, 1970
Bravo Company the Command Post requests an Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese boy with an open head wound in the temple. He was hit by a Honda and was completed at 1555hrs.
Charlie Company
June 29, 1970
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1135hrs the 74 element found a cache of rice at BS746439 based on intelligence from Duc My Security Chief. It was 100 meters west of the WIA VC earlier. It was one foot under the ground polished and 3 tons were found. It was in two locations and evacuated. At 1040hrs Charlie Company at 74 element and Vietnamese were checking rice cache at BS746439 received sniper fire and returned with small arms fire 1 VC evaded from hedgerow and was shot 1 detainee was WIA (E) and M-16 CIA we requests a priority Dust Off for 1 VC with gunshot wounds Dust Off completed at 1050hrs results One M-16 was CIA with 1 WIA Detainee evac. At 1545hrs Charlie Company reports the 57 element has 1 male detainee, approximately 17, wearing white shorts and purple shirt negative ID and will be evac. At 1820hrs Charlie Company 57 element found an additional 2 tons of rice at BS746439 in a graveyard. The rice was buried under the ground in some brown bags lined with plastic. It was polished and in good condition and locally grown. It was from last harvest and evac to Mo Duc. At 2033hrs Charlie Company the 26 element is in position on the Access Road.
Delta Company

Delta Company will be uses Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 0717hrs Delta Company 71 and 26 Engineer are moving out to their work location at BS730603. At 0720hrs Delta Company the 35 element is moving to BS737625, the 38 element is moving to BS732635, the 19 element is moving to BS737648 and the 17 element at checkpoint 2, spotted 2 VC wearing black pajamas with packs. At 75 meters they evaded into a wood line as we engaged them with small arms fire and we swept the area with negative findings. At 0835hrs Delta Company the 17 element is at checkpoint 3 to block at BS749645, the 35 element is blocking at checkpoint 2 at BS750630 to BS743641, the 38 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS732635 and the 19 element has closed.
Echo Company
June 29, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0530hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 8 for a total expended of 66 HE, 20 WP, 2 Illumination, and 3 C/S rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0717hrs 26 Engineer are moving out to their work location at BS730603. At 1000hrs Recon the Day loggers are at following location the 23 Day logger is at BS754583, 24 at BS750580, the 25 Day logger at BS749574, the 26 Day logger at BS755567, the 25 Day logger is at BS749574 and the 25 Day Logger is at BS753064. At 1900hrs Recon the 23 element spotted and engaged 15 VC/NVA with 10 weapons fire. The enemy evaded to the south. At 1900hrs Sharks came on station and checked the area over and worked over the swamps to the 23 element’s south at BS746567. Primo with sharks spotted 1 bunker in the vicinity of the swamp and 1 personnel inside the bunker with hand frag and will check the area again at first light, Shark 5 had negative finding and they broke station at 2000hrs. At 1938hrs Recon Platoon the 25 patrol has closed and at BS773565. At 1810hrs the 25 element spotted 4 VC to their south at approximately 900 meters at grid BS779548. The 4 VC had weapons and packs and wearing black clothes and the sniper engaged them and hit one and checked the area found blood trails and drag marks and parts of intestines, the Sniper line # 27, negative artillery due to the proximity of a build up area with result 1 VC KIA. At 2040hrs Recon Platoon the 22 element is at BS751581, the 23 elements is at BS770570, the 24 element is at BS749574, the 25 element is at BS773565 and the 26 element is at BS753564. At 2250hrs Recon Platoon the 26 element received some sniper fire to their northwest at BS745568. Artillery was called in on the suspected enemy location with negative casualties.
