Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0128hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 1, 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17 all were satisfactory. At 0530hrs 3-4 ARVN while on Search and Clear, observed 1 VC evading to the west, engaged with small arms fire resulting in 1 VC KIA at 914222. At 0530hrs 3-4 ARVN detonated 1 booby trap resulting in 1 ARVN KIA at grid 914222. At 0716hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 0717hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 27 (174 Aviation) is on station. At 1240hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation Box for Alpha and Charlie Companies, Upper Left 7240 Lower Right 7733 DATE/TIME/GRID 300600 to 112400, 4 ARVN (CAN), Ba To (WDP), Duc Pho (DRC), Brigade (LMW). At 1350hrs Helix 36 (USAF) is on station. At 1615hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 3 (11 Brigade Aviation) broke station. At 1700hrs 4 ARVN Recon at 290300hrs vicinity 765446 while on a raid made contact with unknown size enemy force with results 2 VC KIA, 2 VC CIA and have 10 detainees. At 1953hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation extension for Bravo Company 1 click to the east was approved. Duc Pho (DRC), Mo Duc (ANH) 4 ARVN (DE) and 11 Brigade (LMW). At 1953hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Field Strength Alpha 45, Bravo 59, Delta 57, Echo 11 and HHC 8. At 2026hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Bravo 4 and Delta 4 for a total of 8 out. At 2140hrs MACV Mo Duc at 2040hrs called a Dust Off for 1 PF with acid burns, 1st and 2nd degree over entire body PF 155. Dust Off completed at 2120hrs by Dust Off 85. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai. SP4 William Catlett was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital (see Delta Company).
ALPHA COMPANY

At 0706hrs Alpha Company is moving out to 785347, and at 1713hrs Alpha Company 2nd patrol is moving to 784342 and at 0723hrs Alpha Company 3 patrol is moving to 783348. At 1910hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon on move to the Night Defense Position 784345. At 1955hrs 1-20 Infantry: Field Strength A-45, B-59, D-57, HHC-8 and E-11. At 2026hrs Alpha Company has 2 Mechanical Ambushes out.
BRAVO COMPANY

Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2005hrs Bravo Company all element have moved to their Night Defense Position with 1st Platoon at 720452 and 2nd Platoon at 706448.
CHARLIE COMPANY
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0128hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 1, 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17 all were satisfactory.
DELTA COMPANY
Delta Company will continue to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0635hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is on move to Patrol Base at 759346 and at 0643hrs Delta 2nd Platoon is moving out to Patrol Base at 750367. At 0800hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon at 0655hrs while en route to their Patrol Base, came upon what was believed to be a booby trap area. The point man called up the Platoon SGT and they moved out to check the area. At this time the point man tripped a booby trap hand frag grenade with a trip-wire. Dust Off called at 0655hrs completed by Dust Off 88, at 0738hrs. While waiting for Dust Off another booby trap was found in the area, it was believed to be either (4.2 mortar or 105 artillery) round and had trip wire and destroyed both were recent, as the camouflage was still green. Results 1 US KHA and 1 WHA was Dust Off. At 1245hrs Delta Company 2nd platoon in their Patrol Base began to taking small arms fire and M-79 fire from 3 to 5 VC located 200 meters to the southwest in a wood line. Fire Mission called at 1247hrs, Gun-ships requested and Dust Off and requested (Re-supply bird) will be utilized after contact for Dusty. Priority Dust Off SP4 Raymond Gist for gunshot wounds to arms and William Catlett for gun shot wounds to arms. Gun-ship #10 (shark), 174th Aviation on station 1312hrs and engaged area with unknown results. Gun-ships broke station 1328hrs and fire mission continues. At 1530hrs Delta Company has change in Patrol Base to 756369. At 1530hrs Delta Company reports 1st Platoon Checkpoint 1 754366, Checkpoint 2 748367 and checkpoint 3 753374. At 2016hrs Delta Company in their Night Defense Position 2nd Platoon and Command Post at 753371 with 1st Platoon at 757351 and Delta Company has 4 Mechanical Ambush out. SSGT HOWARD LAWRENCE JONES LISTED AS KHA. Delta Company reports the following SGT Earnest A. Garza and SP4 Raymond D. Gist where evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
ECHO COMPANY

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0627hrs Recon is on the move to patrol base grid at 712438.
