Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and will continue to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0128hrs 1-20 Infantry 1 Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with partial parilization of lower extremities, extreme pain to lower back, LZ Liz VIP Pad, SP4 Sears, completed at 0148hrs. At 1243hrs LATE SPOT Q Company requests a priority Dust Off for 2 Vietnamese children (with burns in and around eyes not known how they received burns) was completed at 1645hrs. At 1701hrs S-5 Medical Platoon conducted a Med Cap inside PF Outpost vicinity Bombed out church. Security provided by PF platoon and trainee medics treated 91 civilians for various minor injuries and diseases. At 1738hrs Q Company bought the following from 3 Vietnamese children for 6 meals of C Rations, 1 anti personnel mine (M14), 2 155mm Artillery rounds and 45 M-1 carbine founds. At 2020hrs Radar sighting at BS761378 where 9 to 12 personnel were moving north. Delta Company 1st Platoon moved south ran into a deep gully that they couldn’t cross. They backed off from the area and engaged with Redlegs at 2045hrs. Movement started up again vicinityBS759369, 1st Platoon engaged with small arms, checked the area with negative results. At 2120hrs Blue Ghost 40 is on station and requested clearance for Box 65 cleared by LT Lewis. Spotted fire at BS781479 then saw people putting it out, engaged with .50 caliber and mini guns. The people evaded into a large bunker with a smokestack. Complex is located in heavy foliage. Ghost 40 heard a secondary explosion, started 2 large fires inside what looked to be bunkers. Ghost 40 said fires were like small burning volcanoes, burning very intensely. Ghost 40 requested a fire Mission onto the target, negative clearance due to the proximity of a Ville. Ghost 40 says there is no Ville in the area. Looks to be a large bunker complex and Ghost 40 has broke station at 2350hrs. At 2245hrs Radar Sighting vicinity 787455, 1015hrs the personnel Blue Ghost 40 is diverted to that location to check it out, negative sighting by Blue Ghost 40. At 2305hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity BS737689 PF 277 spotted 1 VC Platoon, VC were at too great a range to engage negative knowledge as to direction of movement or proximity F-1 ratings. Legend: 1st Platoon 83-88, 2nd Platoon 33-38, 3rd Platoon 03-08, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 09.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

Bravo Company
December 29, 1970
Bravo Company will continue their Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1045hrs the Command Post element vicinity BS728468 found a booby trap. It was a Chi Com grenade packed with Petna it had a trip wire and was found in a hedgerow, blew it in place. At 1800hrs Bravo Company vicinity BS725431, requested a Routine Dust Off for 1 US who pushed a cleaning rod through his hand Randall Robinson Dust Off completed at 1805hrs. Bravo Company reports PFC Randall E. Robinson was treated and released by B 23 Medical with Laceration Left Hand cleaning M-60 Machine gun was hit with the other sides.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company at OP Pax again is using a VIP program. At 0945hrs Charlie Company at OP Pax bought 2 60mm Mortar rounds Lot # MA-12-132 3-69. MA-12-245 8-69 from 3 Vietnamese children and they were paid 5 cans of C-Rations and the rounds were destroyed in place. At 1130hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon element on patrol found suspect OP vicinity BS675543. It was on large rocks with vegetation providing good overhead cover. They found 1 Campfire 3-5 days old with some plastic rice bags and empty tuna cans. At 675540 the same patrol found 3-4 large campfires, recently used in the past 2 days, with much freshly bent grass around them. The first OP provided good observation of both OP Pax and Wink. At 2035hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon is at BS699563, 1st Platoon is at BS693538, BS678529, and 2nd Platoon is at BS673572 and BS750560.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue Patrolling their Area of Operation. At 1215hrs 1st Platoon vicinity BS735426 bought 2 81mm Mortar HE rounds from a 10 year old Vietnamese child for 1 case C-Rations, Lot #374-ropio-1691, rounds destroyed in place. At 1305hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon bought a nose cone and detonator for a 250 pound bomb vicinity BS735425 paid 2 cans of C-rations to a 8 year old Vietnamese male, destroyed all rounds in place. At 1338hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS749400, 3rd Platoon patrol closed on BS735410 and 1st Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS755385. At 1950hrs Delta Company reports their locations Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoon BS747408, 3rd Platoon BS742413, BS743412, 2nd platoon BS751404 and 1st platoon BS756385, BS753384. At 2020hrs Radar Sighting BS761378 9-12 personnel moving North 1st Platoon moved south ran into a deep gully that they couldn’t cross. The backed off from the area and engaged with Redlegs. At 2045hrs movement started up again vicinity BS759369, 1st Platoon engaged with small arms, checked the area with negative results will check again at first light.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 2010hrs Recon Platoon report their location at BS759572. At 2307hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity BS738667, an element from the PF 277 element ambushed 2 squads (believed to be 8 to 16) VC They blew 1 claymore and engaged with small arms fire. They checked the area out and found 3 drag marks. Negative knowledge as to blood trails, fire mission was called into BS742673.
