Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued their work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0010hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports at LZ Liz 1 man from Headquarters was cleaning his weapon when it discharged he received gunshot wound in right shoulder, Dust Off was completed at 0027hrs Name SP4 Mike M. Eleas was evac. At 1035hrs E Troops 1 Calvary reports at BS783538 they have 1 VC evading with results 1 VC KIA negative weapon and ID. At 2105hrs 1-20 Infantry Request dossier report to LZ Dragon as soon as highway is open will work with 1st Platoon of Bravo Company and destroy bunker and tunnel complex, 26 Engineer reports no dossier available. At 2134hrs Delta Company request 1 dog team to come out on the utility ship pick up Southeast pad at 1300hrs 30 December 1968. At 2145hrs Late Entry at BS756428 Quad 50 spotted 2 VCS on LZ Liz access road, scrambled flare ship, checked area with negative assessment.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0630hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer at BS779439 Mine Sweep Team found mine. Mine was blown in place left crater 4’ X 3’ deep, frag looked like a B-40 rocket. At 0850hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS719592 received 25 rounds of small arms fire negative casualties and returned fire and continued Mine Sweep. SP4 Richard D. Ingram (11B20) was evac to 312th Evac Hospital at 0810hrs sick. SP4 Mike M. Eleas medic was evac to 312th Evac Hospital at 1345hrs with gunshot wound right shoulder.
Alpha Company

At 1215hrs Alpha Company is located at BS643602 and 1345hrs Alpha Company has Air Move PZ at 1330hrs and last LZ at 1339hrs LZ Bronco as Alpha Company goes for their Stand Down at LZ Bronco PFC Russell A. Dunn (B-D), PFC Leslie W. Rifanburg (D) and PFC Ricardo Palomares (D) are (awarded Purple Heart need Date and Company).
Bravo Company

At 1435hrs Bravo Company is at LZ Dragon and will take over the Security Mission for the LZ Dragon. At 1725hrs a Vietnamese Civilian (Girl) was accidently shot by an ARVN with 45 Pistol, Bravo Company request Dust Off and was completed at 1753hrs and evac to Duc Pho.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0830hrs Charlie Company reports at BS742463 have 1 VC CIA negative weapons or ID and brought in by Brigade Command and Control helicopter.
Delta Company
December 29, 1968
At 0910hrs Delta Company at BS750534 1 VC evading results 1 VC KIA and is receiving heavy automatic weapons fire from Village are calling in Artillery. At 1010hrs Delta Company reports their location at BS755569. At 1100hrs Delta Company at BS778484 engaged 1 VC evading with results 1 VC KIA negative weapon or ID. At 1215hrs Delta Company has ˝ at BS755569 and other ˝ at BS7850. At 1430hrs Delta Company vicinity of BS778484 engaged 1 VC results 1 VC KIA negative weapon. At 1618hrs Delta Company at BS786505 elements getting sniper fire does not need support at this time will keep you informed. At 2020hrs Delta Company 31 ambush engaged 3 VC trying to penetrate the perimeter with results 3 VC KIA. At 1800hrs late entry Delta Company at BS798498 1 US WHA (M) 82mm Booby Trap Dust Off in the morning. At 1800hrs Delta Company at BS798488 detonated booby trapped 82mm Mortar round with results 2 WHA (M) one of wounded was evac to LZ Bronco. Delta Company requested Dog Team for December 30, 1968. SP4 Paul A. Smith was evac to 312th Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Liz where Battalion Forward is located and coordinates the Battalion Rear elements and Base Defense element on LZ Liz. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Liz where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 0835hrs Recon Platoon at BS794493 received automatic weapons fire from 3 directions and called Artillery with negative results. At 1000hrs Recon Platoon at BS778484 has 1 man CIA, no ID and also 1 man with Vietnamese ID but doesn’t speak Vietnamese believed Mongelian at BS778501 will evac both to LZ Bronco. At 1110hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request for Aerial Scouts make a Visual Recon from DATE/TIME 301300hrs-301800hrs December 1968, starting BS805435 to BS750520 to BS690507 to BS715500 to BS715455 to BS695400 to BS727574. At 1215hrs 1-20 TOC reports tracks are location at BS793520. At 1435hrs Recon Platoon is moving BS799496 and the APC also moving. At 1806hrs Recon Platoon is moving and at BS792470 receiving automatic weapon fire calling in Artillery. At 2025hrs Recon Platoon reports they have moved into their night location at BS790472.
