Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0500hrs Radar at 1945hrs an unknown number of personnel were sighted at BS775407 with negative clearance due to the proximity of Charlie Company. At 1952hrs TMF sighted an undetermined number of personnel at BS77786752 engaged with 10 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 1955hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS721447 and engaged with 18 HE rounds of 155 Artillery. At 2240hrs an undetermined personnel were sighted at BS715437 with negative clearance due to the proximity of Charlie Company. At 2330hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS76063924 and engaged with 20 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0055hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS729414 and negative clearance due to the proximity of Charlie Company. At 0345hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS766435 and negative clearance believed to be road security element. At 0420hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS73674663 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0755hrs Brigade LTC Landry, designated G-5, will visit LZ Liz 301345hrs August for a briefing. At 1830hrs Blue Ghost at BS693526 a campfire and 1 military age male in black with pack evaded to the south into a tree line. Engagement was made with negative findings. At BS659509 Blue Ghost received a small amount of small arms fire returning fire with negative findings. At 0940hrs Sharks and Primo has 3 VC KIA at BS757582 and all had packs and 1 had a weapon of an unknown type. At 1107hrs Delta Company at BS736575 the 34 and 83 elements picked up 17 detainees who will be evac to LZ Liz. At 1435hrs Sharks at BS670508 we destroyed 1 camouflaged hootch at BS670508 and at 1525hrs Blue Ghost at BS697483 they found a well used trail running east to west and at BS692487 we found a well used clearing 10’ by 10’. At 1755hrs Reference the Eagle Flight Operation the following LZ and PZ were made 1st PZ from LZ at 0815hrs and 1st LZ at BS7736 at 0820hrs the 2nd PZ from LZ Liz at 0825hrs to 2nd LZ at 0830hrs at BS7537. Eagle Flight also continued with the 3rd PZ from LZ Liz at 0855hrs and the 3rd LZ at 0840hrs at BS7539 and the 4th PZ from LZ Bronco at 0850hrs and the 4 PZ at 0800hrs into BS755619. Eagle Flight is finishing up with the 18th LZ at 1715hrs at BS7736, BS7537 and BS7539. Also took the packs for Delta Company to their location. At 1830hrs Dolphin 6 checked that area of artillery fire and found many destroyed bunkers and structures and spotted bodies in the area, but couldn’t get low enough to count them. At 1958hrs 26 Engineer a total of 65 acres were cleared in the area BS706537, BS710437, BS706544 and BS764543 destroying 8 bunkers, and 2 fighting positions. Also destroying 20 meters of trench, found 2 booby traps, 1 60mm mortar and 1 homemade grenade. We have 5 D7 operations with 1 AC, 1 CEV and 1 M548 operational. At 2020hrs Blue ghost spotted at BS763407 either a partly destroyed hootch, or a incomplete 1 with some sort of complex in the floor, with a 55 Gallon drum inside. At 2100hrs TMF Sting 73 was activated at 1947hrs, 5 people that where moving southwest to northeast at 2 miles per hour with metal confirmed, negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly, a Visual Recon Team has been requested. At 2115hrs PF 260 sprang their ambush at BS768475 with claymores and small arms on a platoon size VC unit, 1 VC KIA, 1 SKS CIA with 2 PF WIA with minor wounds, negative evac. At 2130hrs Brigade because of the Vietnamese elections on 30 August 1970 there is a potential threat of VC capitalizing on propaganda of US influence. Unit Commanders are requested to restrict vehicle traffic on Highway 1 to essential missions.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company closed on LZ Liz and took over the Security Mission and the Access Road.
Bravo Company
August 29, 1970
At 1035hrs Bravo Company 1 detainee man was picked up at BS690585 he was evading when the Combat Assault was in progress. He will be evacuated to LZ Liz, he was 46 had no ID. The 63 element closed on BS712583. At 1150hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 VC male who was shot in the head at BS735650. He was evading into a wood line and would not stop, warning shots were fired, and then he was engaged completed at 1210hrs. At 1207hrs the 23 element requests an Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese female from BS728632, she has wounds to the head and was evading when engaged completed at 1210hrs. At 1230hrs the 93 element has 2 females 27, 30, no ID will bring to LZ Liz. At 1230hrs the 63 element has 1 VC KIA at BS726620 by sharks approximately 20 years old. At 1230hrs Bravo Company the 83 element has 3 females and 2 males no ID detainee to LZ Liz this is part of a Eagle Flight Operation.
Charlie Company

At 1640hrs Charlie Company the 83 element has 1 male detainee at BS744467 age 22 with no ID. He says was kidnapped by the VC 30 days ago. At 1737hrs Charlie Company 83 element is moving to BS723444, the 63 element is in their Day Logger at BS728415 and the 23-24 elements at BS751440. At 1810hrs Charlie Company all element are moving to the Day Logger locations the 34 at BS722427, the 62 at BS725415 and the 83 at BS723444. At 2111hrs Charlie Company 83 element is located at BS716437 the PF 260 sprang their ambush at BS768475 with claymores and small arms on a Platoon size VC, 1 VC KIA, 1 SKS CIA, 2 PF WIA with minor wounds negative Dust Off. Charlie Company also detainee two Vietnamese and turn them in to Military Intelligence.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Security Mission for the Access Road.
Echo Company
August 29, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0400hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total expended 34 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0545hrs Recon Platoon we are heading toward LZ Liz and Charlie Company was informed of the move and Recon Platoon closed at 0725hrs.
