Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0823hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 3 is on station at his time. At 0834hrs Warlord 18 is on station to check out APD box 188, negative friendly in Box nearest outside box to south and northeast. Americal Rules of engagement fire for fire clear automatic weapons and breaking station at 0843hrs going to Brigade. At 1025hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 39 is on station at this time sent to Visual Recon for Alpha Company. At 1407hrs Helix 37 broke station with negative findings. At 1447hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord inserted Animals at grid BS617524 to check bunker and military age males. At 1506hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlords extracted Animals, Animals found steel pots buried in ground, 1 military bunker with signs of recent use at grid BS617512. Warlords engaged and destroyed bunker. At 1702hrs Helix 36 broke station and at 1715hrs Dolphin 25 has broken station. At 2223hrs 1-20 Infantry Saber Black is on station for Box 66, had negative findings, in Box 61 at his time broke station at 2300hrs with negative findings. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

At 0811hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon on move to Patrol Base and 3rd Platoon is on move to Patrol Base vicinity BS675549. At 0842hrs Alpha Company Command Post, 2nd Platoon and 4th Platoon is moving to Patrol base at BS683530. At 0904hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS687824 had a Dust Off for Line #C9423, booby trap of 1 can of Petra, trip wire off the ground on a trail. Pack has frag wounds to his leg and hand. In good condition the Dust Off by Raffle 66 in Primo 3. At 1043hrs Alpha Company Urgent Dust Off at grid BS669539, Booby Trap can of Petra with trip wire approximately knee high, multiple frag wounds to legs and lower back, Dust Off completed at 1054hrs. At 1149hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon in Patrol Base vicinity BS687527. At 1622hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 5, vicinity BS669527, 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 4 at BS681517 and the 2nd Platoon is at checkpoint 2 at BS680527. At 1941hrs Alpha Company locations Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS682525, 2nd Platoon ambush BS679520, 3rd Platoon ambush is at grid BS669534, and 1st Platoon is at grid BS677508 in their Night Defense Position. Alpha Company reports the following SP4 Larry L. Croom and PFC John F. Brady where attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.

At 0800hrs Bravo Company all element on the move to LZ Liz Closed on LZ Liz at 1030hrs and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company
April 29, 1971
At 0844hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon moving off LZ Liz at BS728414 and at 0934hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon and Command Post moving off Liz to BS726421, with the 2nd Platoon at vicinity of BS729448. At 0957hrs 1st Platoon at BS758416, Tactical Routine Dust Off for 1 pack has swelling ankle, picked up by Raffle 66 in Primo 3, Dust Off completed at 1005hrs. At 1125hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS729448. At 1420hrs Charlie Company Command Post detained 1 male 16, vicinity BS726421, he is a carrier for VC, Kit Carson Scout said he spoke in favor of VC, will be back hauled to LZ Liz. At 1545hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon detained 1 female age 35 found with 2 5 gallon cans of waterproofing material made by the VC in the mountains and sold to civilians. The detainee has ID and is wearing pick top and black bottoms. At 1550hrs Charlie Company Command Post detained 1 male age 61 500meters east of location BS728437, was working in field and then began hiding in the bush watching the US personnel at what they were doing will be back hauled to LZ Liz. At 1607hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon found 1 booby trap, a 4.2 round with wire leading into the ground, Booby trap was lying in open so a GI would pick it up. Approximately 2 months also at same location found 1 dud 155mm round and blown in place. At 1740hrs Charlie Company while sweeping area where a detainee said that there were 4 VC hiding in tunnels, found 1 Chi Com grenade in a hedgerow, rigged for Booby trap and blown in Place. At 2027hrs Charlie Company all element in Night Defense Position locations Command Post 3rd Platoon at BS719417, 1st Platoon at BS730413, 1st Platoon ambush at BS725410, 2nd Platoon at BS725453 and 2nd Platoon ambush at BS724452.
Delta Company

At 0700hrs Delta Company Command Post, 1st, and 4th Platoon is Patrol Base BS722503. At 0718hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon is on move to Patrol Base at BS722503. At 0802hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to Command Post location vicinity BS722503. At 1005hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon at BS722502 Routine Dust Off for US who cut his had with a knife, needs stitches line #M 3446, Dust Off completed at 1025hrs. At 1210hrs Delta Company Command Post moving to 2nd Platoon element vicinity BS708514. At 1505hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving out for BS718502. At 2026hrs Delta Company locations Command Post 2nd platoon at BS726475, 1st and 4th platoon at BS721499, 3rd platoon at BS710506, and 2nd platoon ambush at BS728477.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0624hrs Recon is moving off hill (LZ Liz) to a raid location at BS754438 with checkpoint 1 is located vicinity BS754443. At 0640hrs Recon is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS754443. At 1749hrs Recon while on patrol at BS750443 spotted 1 VC with pack run into a bunker. They tried to get him to come out with negative results, they then threw a hand frag into the bunker and got 1 secondary explosion, final Results were 1 VC KIA, pack destroyed. VC was wearing black on black approximately 30 to 35 years old and bunker was 4’ by 4’. At 0800hrs Recon is back on hill LZ Liz. At 1735hrs Recon is at their checkpoint 1 in vicinity BS754413 will set up and watch streambed. At 1949hrs Recon element is in their preplanned location at BS744404. At 2030hrs Recon has changed their night location to BS748404.
