Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0930hrs Charlie 26th engineer mine sweep team hit a 250pound bomb results 3 US KIA, 1 US WIA Dust Off was called. At 0951hrs Helix 37 FAC we are putting in Air Strike at gird BS716471. At 1345hrs 1-20 Infantry 28 September Fire Fly 2100-2200hrs Bronco to BS880420, north to BS850500 and then southwest along 515 to BS710430 and then northeast back up 515 south along beach 44 grid line turn off light due to friendly location south to 44 Grid line, back to Bronco.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 015hrs Target Detection D-3 at 0048hrs at BS79883287 has picked up a stationary target, unknown amount of personnel, engaged with 8 HE rounds of 105 Artillery.
Alpha Company
September 28, 1969
At 0706hrs Alpha Company location is at BS827435 their Day Logger and the 72 and 92 elements are in the Night Defense Position, but will move up to the Day Logger as soon as we send then the location. At 0950hrs Alpha Company the 72 and 92 element has closed on our Day Logger. At 1805hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS837425. At 2000hrs Alpha Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS828420.
Bravo Company
September 28, 1969
At 0620hrs Bravo Company we are moving at this time. All snakes will stay in location until the mine sweep of the Red Ball. At 0650hrs at BS790425 Bravo Company received automatic weapons fire and .30 cal fire negative casualties and requests guns to work the area. At 0855hrs Bravo Company we are moving back to the Southern Bridge site which will be our Day Logger today. At 0927hrs we left our 75 element at grid BS785395 and at 1945hrs all snakes have closed on Day Logger and 85 at North Bridge. At 1350hrs our 75 element closed on Southern Bridge site. At 2000hr Bravo Company move into their Night Defense Position at BS787429 and with the RF have multiple ambushes out in their Area of Operation. At 2050hrs Bravo Company at BS796401, will moving into their night ambush position spotted five people digging in road open fire and people evaded, 1 man CIA (still embeds) keeping area under surveillance. At 2125hrs Bravo Company 54 have at BS796401 have 13 holes all 2 to 3 feet off the edge of road, a couple in middle holes 2’ long and 2’ deep and 1’ wide.
Charlie Company

At 0445hrs Charlie Company 82 element is leaving the perimeter at this time to be a blocking force and at 0500hrs 75 and 78 elements are closing on our location and at 0615hrs we are moving out. At 0900hrs Charlie Company Day Logger is at BS825423 and we have closed. At 0910hrs Charlie Company at BS819423 detained 1 female VCS 50-60, the PRU says she is VC and will evac to Bronco. At 1200hrs Charlie Company reports 76 element has OP at BS828424. At 1258hrs Charlie Company reports that the 86 element has snake at BS827419, 85 at BS824426 and our night Defense Position is at BS821421. At 2000hrs Charlie Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS821421, with 85 at BS825421, and 86 at BS827419.
Delta Company
September 28, 1969
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0615hrs Delta Company 81mm Mortar Platoon reports expended 9 HE, 10 WP and 5 Illumination rounds. At 0630hrs Delta Company our 62 element is moving out shortly to start sweep. At 0734hrs Delta Company our 72 element which was sweeping around LZ Liz is closing now.
Echo Company
September 28, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0706hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Schedule Fire 4 and Observed Mission 1 for a total expended 17 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon is located at BS757408. At 1000hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS772393 and by 1200hrs Recon is located at BS770413 their Day Logger. At 2000hrs Recon Platoon reports the night location Recon is at BS777395 and at 2030hrs report snake is in position.
