Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1615hrs Message from Profect 78 Date effective 29 October 69: At 0700hrs, 1. Alpha Company 3-1 Infantry will be OPCON to (1-20 Infantry). 2. At 0800hrs, Alpha Company 3-1 Infantry will be Combat Assault to a location west of LZ Liz. PZ southeast pad, Note Alpha Company has an additional mission as Brigade reserve, LZ will be at BS746381. At 1720hrs AJAX Alpha Company 107, Bravo Company 93, Charlie Company 91, Delta Company 90, Recon Platoon 18 and 4.2 Platoon 28.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for the Clearing Operation. At 1615hrs Alpha Company Land cleared 225 area, area cleared BS790488, BS801499, BS797484 and BS803489. Tomorrow proposed area is BS792484, BS703489, BS793478 and BS805485. Vehicle status same as yesterday EIMCO with bull blade has a rod through the engine rather then fuel injector, no mines.
Bravo Company

At 0002hrs Bravo Company at grid BS776430 our 32 element on our Night Defense Position perimeter spotted 14 VC moving toward LZ Liz. They opened up with small arms fire and the VC ran into a tree line. We are now hitting the area with 81mm negative results so far. Bravo Company continued to use Sweep and Clear operation and Multiple Patrolling in there Area of Operation also some daylight and night ambushes were also set up. At 2040hrs Bravo Company at BS783433 received 1 B-40 rocket approximately 100 meters southeast with negative casualties or damage and engage with 81mm Mortar Fire with unknown results.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company at grid BS713437 my 73 element at approximately 0400hrs spotted movement to their front, they open fired and AK fire was returned by the VC/NVA. Charlie Company reported contact was broken with negative results my 73 and 17 element closed on perimeter. Command and Control helicopter pick up 1 US with possible malaria man Last Name Barkely (E-5) at grid BS714436 completed at 0758hrs. I believe man evac was SGT William L. Barkley.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Echo Company
October 28, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0625hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observe Mission 4 for a total expend 75 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0845hrs Recon Platoon at grid BS817471we received small arms fire from our rear and front. One man has a gunshot wound of from the rear and they returned fire. Command and Control Helicopter is making the dust Off Name Gee. At 1025hrs Recon Platoon our present location is BS809452. At 1245hrs Recon Platoon reports my Night Defense Position for tonight is BS829446. At 1445hrs Recon Platoon at grid BS815455 we received a heavy volume of small arms fire. There were no casualties and gun ships scrambled. At 1650hrs Recon Platoon reports the Night Defense Position will now be at BS833438 and at 1850hrs closed on their Night Defense Position.
