Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0250hrs 198 Infantry Brigade Highway 1 will be closed form 0900hrs to 1130hrs in the Quang Nghia section from the valley to the Song Ve. At 0310hrs Saber Black is on station to check out radar sighting vicinity BS798451, negative findings, worked Box 41 and had negative findings, and broke station at 0405hrs. At 1230hrs Warlord 7 and 23 is on station to check Box 33I and at 1305hrs Warlord 7 and 23 has broken station with negative findings. At 1800hrs 4-4 ARVN at vicinity BS623554, while in their Night Defense Position, the Command Post group received heavy small arms fire. B-40 rocket and mortar fire from the following grids, BS620553, BS613543, BS627542, BS626537 and BS628532, Initially 1 US Advisor WIA, 4 ARVN were KIA and 4 ARVN were WIA when the Dust Off. Dust Off came on station with Stinger 74 and 94, the enemy fired at the gun ships wounding 1 pilot and Dust Off completed at 0820hrs. At 0855hrs 4-4 ARVN came under an 82mm mortar attack (40 rounds) results 2 ARVN KIA, Saber 74 and Singer 88 and 94 came on station and they received .51 caliber Fire, from grid BS628542. Air Strike requested and put in at 1500hrs. At 1600hrs the 4-4 ARVN again received heavy mortar fire and received another Air Strike at 1625hrs. At 1635hrs 4-4 ARVN again took mortar fire with results 5 ARVN WIA, 2 ARVN KIA for a total at the present Friendly 6 ARVN KIA, 8 ARVN WIA, 2 US WIA, Enemy 11 NVA KIA, 6 AK 47 CIA, 1 PRC 6 CIA. The 1st contact of this incident started at 0600hrs, report was completed at 1800hrs. At 1845hrs 4th ARVN Recon is at BS739548 and made contact with unknown size enemy force with results 1 ARVN WIA with gunshot wound Dust Off was completed at 1645hrs with negative results. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use Patrol Bases and saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0738hrs Alpha Company all ambushes have closed, 1st Platoon is at BS668557 and 3rd Platoon is at BS645571. At 0848hrs Alpha Company 2nd platoon patrol is moving to BS681496. At 1208hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS642561. At 1315hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving out for BS666555. At 1938hrs the Alpha Company Command Post with 1st, 4th Platoon at BS687565, 1st and 2nd Platoon at vicinity BS665563, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS658563, 3rd Platoon vicinity BS642565,and 3rd Platoon ambush at BS641559.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company

Charlie Company used multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 0746hrs Charlie Company all ambushes have closed and all elements in pre planned Patrol Bases, Command Post and 2nd Platoon is at BS713451, 3rd Platoon is at BS717462 and the 1st Platoon is at vicinity BS708448. At 0805hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS728447. At 0900hrs Charlie Company reports 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to vicinity BS712466 and the 1st Platoon patrol is moving to vicinity BS702448. At 1925hrs Charlie Company locations are ate Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon at BS713451, 1st Platoon at BS708488, 1st Platoon ambush at BS708444, 3rd Platoon at BS717465, 3rd Platoon ambush BS715465.
Delta Company

At 1041hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS686498. At 1100hrs Delta Company location at BS694510, requests urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese Kit Carson Scout who hit a booby trap, has multiple frag wounds to legs and head (unconscious). Booby trap was frag with trip wire across opening with Dust Off was cancelled KIA Kit Carson Scout #456 Tran Van Quan. At 1250hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed on BS675498. At 1345hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out to pre planned Night Defense Position rest of element will link up there vicinity BS680506. At 1600hrs Delta Company Command Post, 4th and 2nd Platoon is moving out for BS680506. At 1810hrs Delta Company changes of the following grids, 2nd, 4th and Command Post changed to BS681506, 3rd Platoon Night Defense Position changed to BS698518 and 2nd Platoon ambush has changed to BS681508. At 1950hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd and 4th platoon at BS681506, 1st Platoon at BS655505, 2nd platoon ambush is at BS681508 and 3rd platoon at BS698518.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1750hrs Recon is moving out to BS738418. At 1905hrs Recon Night Defense Position will be at vicinity BS738418. At 1955hrs Recon is in their Night Defense Position.
