Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0030hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 1, 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17 and all were satisfactory. At 0702hrs Hornet 25 (116 AHC) is on station. At 0720hrs 1-4 ARVN at 280400hrs vicinity BS634364 while conducting a raid made contact with unknown size enemy force, resulting in 2 VC KIA and 1 carbine CIA. At 0721hrs 4 ARVN Recon at 080400hrs vicinity BS802417 while on a raid made contact with unknown size enemy force with results is 2 VC KIA and 1 M-1 carbine CIA. At 0739hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been swept of mines. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 2 (11 Brigade Aviation) is on station and breaks station at 1600hrs. At 1627hrs S-5 Med Cap in location at grid BS755495 has been completed with a total of 326 personnel treated. At 1944hrs 1-20 Infantry report Field Strength: Alpha 45, Bravo 62, Delta 62, HHC 10 and Echo 23. At 2011hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, Bravo 2, Delta 4 and Echo 1 for a total 9 out. At 2130hrs Warlord Black (123 Aviation) is in Nighthawk box 51, at 2212hrs checking Bronco perimeter and at 2223hrs to Max and broke station at 2243hrs. At 2315hrs RF 103, LZ Max at 2100hrs was attacked by an estimated company size enemy element. They received 1 incoming unknown type mortar round and small arms fire and M-79 rounds, returned fire with organic mortars and small arms. At 2223 Honest Black was diverted from Nighthawk Box to LZ Mac, results was 1 VC CIA, will be taken to Quang Ngai tomorrow, negative friendly casualties, vicinity BS755487. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2009hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post at BS783348 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company
July 28, 1971
Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2010hrs Bravo Company has moved to their Night Defense Position the 1st Platoon with Command Post is at BS713456 and 2nd Platoon is at BS699453. Bravo Company has 2 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 0030hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 1, 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17 and all were satisfactory.
Delta Company
July 28, 1971
Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0723hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon in Patrol Base at BS757349 and 2nd Platoon and Command Post in Patrol Base, vicinity BS753359. At 0735hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon shifted to BS754358 found 1 booby trap in Patrol Base, old possibly a 120mm mortar round with trip wire using smoke grenade firing device, was blown in place, wire was broken. At 1650hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to BS761343. At 1800hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 2, vicinity BS753366. At 1958hrs Delta Company reports Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS752360, 1st Platoon at BS759357 at this time with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1355hrs Recon Night Defense Position changed to vicinity BS715435. At 2003hrs Recon has closed on their Night Defense Position at BS715435.
