Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0050hrs Negative Situation Report, Bravo Company was taking sporadic sniper fire and 4.2 Mortar did not answer on either command or on his internal. At 0950hrs FAC 35 putting in preplanned Air Strike into grid BS846386 grid is clear, dropping 500 pound bomb and napalm.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 1024hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS885274 EM detonated antipersonnel mine with results 1 US WIA (E), Dust Off completed at 1038hrs. At 1058hrs at BS885274 while on security EM detonated a anti personnel mine with results 1 US WIA (E) Dust Off was completed at 1105hrs to Duc Pho.
Alpha Company

At 0740hrs Alpha Company is moving out of their Night Defense Position our 83 element is moving with trackers. Will all go to the Day Logger at grid BS744449 and at 1800hrs we have 1 male VCS, we would like to have him picked up first thing in the morning. The VCS says he is 15 years old, but looks at least 19 years of age. Alpha Company is moving to Night Defense Position BS747451 with the 13-83 snake will be at BS734454. At 2135hrs Alpha Company location for the 13 element snake BS734453 and 83 element 100 meters south of the 13 location. Alpha Company we have one female VC she said that she was a VC woman association squad leader and tax collector. She is willing to help us and only reason she is this is the only way she can keep her money and land. Alpha Company the 83 and 13 elements at 2150hrs on way to snake spotted 5 VC at grid BS740457, 2 of VC appeared to be children carrying a sack of rice and a weapon. The VC spotted the element while maneuvering to surround the Ville encountered 6 NVA in uniform, weapons, they immediately fled to the south with part of the element remaining to search the Ville the rest gave pursuit to the NVA.
Bravo Company

At 0045hrs BRAVO Company Location BS814447, we are taking incoming sniper rounds at this time. We will keep you informed, fire seemed to be coming from the northwest and at times it sounds like a 50 cal also have not called for 81mm Mortar or Artillery at this time. The 4.2 has not answer either the command or their internal net and at 0630hrs Bravo Company we hit our objective my 83 element saw 4 men in green moving, and they think they got one, they may have another in a bunker, will have a detailed report as soon as everything dies down. At 0655hrs Bravo Company further report on 0630hrs contact: We spotted 5 VC/NVA 4 dressed in green, with weapons in a blue uniform, they were headed east, we took them under fire, and we believe we wounded 1 of the 4 dressed in green and the one who dressed in blue. We searched the area, but we found only an M-26, US type, and one found some ammo type unknown, we will keep you advised of further developments. At 0732hrs unknown size enemy force took us under fire at grid BS795464- Request Urgent Dust Off for 1 US personnel with a gunshot wound of the head, will have gun ships on station for Dust Off, Name Rousseau, Duane completed at 0803hrs. At 0915hrs Bravo Company when Command and Control Helicopter came in with resupply received sniper fire from southeast about 300 meters outside perimeter, negative damage. One other US personnel fell and put a gash above his eve, will send him in on utility, this afternoon (medic) and at 0948hrs location BS802451. At 1035hrs Bravo Company location BS802451 initial contact report: the 63 element sniper fire from they believe two snipers, 50 to 60 meters from their east and to southeast, have one injured US personnel, calling in artillery on their enemy location. At 1045hrs Bravo Company location BS802451, requests an Urgent wound of the posterior. There will be Gun ships on station with Dust Off last name is Plovock, Dust Off completed at 1115hrs. At 1417hrs Bravo Company location BS802451, 87 elements has closed on Day Logger, all elements has closed on day logger. At 1700hrs Bravo Company location BS801456 have two VCS female while on Recon patrol at BS801456, found these two women hiding in a bunker. The all were cut up in the mouth, think the VC might have beat these women for information, ages 18 to 25. (Ajax 76.) At 1850hrs Bravo Company are moving out of Day logger at this time. At 2100hrs Bravo Company location BS797445, while moving to Night Defense Position site we went into a Ville, and a young male VCS tried to evade, took under fire wounded him. We have him at this time, going to patch him up and Dust Off in morning Night Defense Position at BS795445 and two snakes out. Bravo Company reports SSG DUANE MICHAEL ROUSSEAU LISTED AS KHA. Bravo Company reports that PFC Joseph Plovock was evac to the 312th Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company using Night Defense Position as their Day Logger received resupply at 1420hrs. Charlie Company has moved to their Night Defense Position at BS744474 with the 13 snake at vicinity BS736474, and the 14 snake at BS749471.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Echo Company
July 28, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon report Observed missions 6 total expended: 3 HE, 26 WP and 6 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense coordination. At 0615hrs Recon Platoon we would like Command and Control Helicopter to come to our location to pick up the gear of 4 people which was left behind, we would like a representative from our rear to be on the chopper to make sure the gear makes it back to the proper place. We would also like the Command and Control Helicopter to recon to our west for possible movement also if 7 thinks it advisable, we would like to have the entire unit Combat Assault out and the other 3 WIA and their gear will be coming in. At 1003hrs Recon Platoon is moving out in 10 minutes will call in artillery at location where we received sniper fire last night then we will go and check out the area.
