Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. SP4 Charles Hardeman was attached to the 67th Medical Evac (See Bravo Company January 28, 1968).
Alpha Company
January 28, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and used multiple patrolling and night ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 1100hrs Alpha Company has element starting to move south into Area of Operation extension. At 1126hrs Alpha Elements in position 3rd element has discovered a mine device and box of ammo caliber unknown at this time. Alpha Company reports 1st Element at BS921194, 2nd at BS924163 and 3rd at BS910153. At 1338hrs Alpha Company at BS912153 found between 1500 and 2000 pounds of rice and 19 rounds of M-16 ammo. Are going to sandbag the rice and evacuate it to Southeast Pad LZ Bronco. At 1630hrs Alpha Company Command Post 2nd Platoon at BS921194 with the 1st Platoon on Bridges 106 and 108, and 3rd Platoon at BS891296. At 1730hrs Alpha Company at BS888296, 1 VC evading over hedgerow and results is 1 VC WIA and CIA was Dust Off at 1735hrs.
Bravo Company

At 0720hrs Bravo Company had a fire burning and one of the men backed up to fire to keep warm and his trousers caught fire, sustained 3rd degree burns on legs, and was Dust Off (see Headquarters and Headquarter Company). At 1630hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon and 3rd Platoon are at LZ OD, 2nd Platoon is at bridges 104-105.
Charlie Company
January 28, 1968
Charlie Company (Task Force Barker 198 Light Infantry Brigade) continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie. At 1130hrs Charlie Company requested a Dust Off for 1 US back injured at BS638867 evac to LZ Dottie as Charlie Company beginning their Operations in the Muscatine Area of Operations and Task Force Baker. At 2014hrs from the Americal Division Cease-fire is cancelled, continued normal operation immediately and the 1968 Tet Offense is started by the VC and NVA. PFC Larry Rodgers attached to 2nd Surgical Hospital Chu Lai.
Delta Company
January 28, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for key bridges in their Area of Operations and conducts patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1317hrs Delta Company conduct a Combat Assault 1st element touchdown at 1317hrs and 2nd lift touchdown at 1333hrs LZ cold. At 1630hrs Delta Company reports their locations Command Post and 1st Platoon at BS809298, 2nd platoon at BS912153 and BS826364 with 3rd Platoon on Bridges 99 and 100.
Echo Company
January 28, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission on LZ Thunder. At 1420hrs Recon completed their Combat Assault to BS775301.
