Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0513hrs Saber 44 is on station for Box 61 and broke station at 0530hrs due to heavy fog with negative findings. At 0925hrs Primo 5 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 1345hrs S-4 Hornet 292 is on station for re supply. At 2050hrs Saber 40 is on station to check out contact areas. At 2200hrs RMF vicinity BS719452, String 61B, target unknown size, a stationary target with metal confirmed and engaged with 10 HE Artillery 105mm. At 2225hrs RF 712 vicinity BS756644 observed and engaged estimate VC Platoon, negative knowledge on results, this is not US confirmed. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 42-47, 3rd Platoon 92-97, 4th Platoon 52-57, CO-01.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
February 28, 1971
Alpha Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0120hrs 3rd Platoon vicinity BS746420 while in ambush location had a trip flare ignite and Recon the area with small arms fire and check area with negative finding. At 0730hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon closed on LZ Liz. At 1845hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol moving out for BS769411. At 2021hrs 1st Platoon vicinity BS770412 while in an ambush location and preparing to put in place the claymores, ambush spotted 7-10 NVA approximately 50 meters to their front. They were moving south and we engaged the enemy, Alpha Company reports at 2130hrs 1 NVA KIA CIA 1 AK-47 and 2 magazines, 8 Chi Com hand frag and medical supplies. At 2228hrs Hornet 41 on station as flare ship also found 1 more NVA KIA, 1 wearing OD uniform with green shirt and purple shorts underneath it. Also 9 Chi Com, both KIA were 20-25 years of age. At 2109hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon closed back on their night location. At 2109hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is moving out to link up with the ambush vicinity BS770412 and at 2301hrs hornet 41 broke station.
Bravo Company
February 28, 1971
At 0800hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon Day Ambush is moving to BS733418 and the Command Post with 1st and 4th Platoon in Patrol Base at BS728444. At 1055hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon moving out for Day Ambush at BS718454. At 1205hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is moving to BS705440 and the 1st Platoon is moving to BS725405. At 1720hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed at BS740455 and 1st Platoon closed vicinity BS739402. At 2045hrs Bravo Company Command Post vicinity BS732442 in ambush location had 6 to 7 NVA walk into their ambush. Engaged the enemy at a distance of 15 meters resulting in 2 NVA KIA and 2 packs CIA, and sweep continuing. Saber 40 while aiding Bravo Company observed and engaged 3 NVA resulting in 3 NVA KIA. At 2125hrs Bravo Company patrol closed on night ambush location with a total of 2 NVA KIA, Saber 40 with 3 NVA KIA, and 7 rucksacks CIA, and at 2318hrs Saber 40 breaking station.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use patrols and Day Ambush in their Area of Operation today. At 1355hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon has 2 Vietnamese child bring old 2 40mm duster rounds approximately 30 to 45 days old, paid them 2 meals of C ration and they blew it in place. At 1718hrs Charlie Company all patrols closed on their night locations.
Delta Company

Delta Company used saturation patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 0700hrs Delta Company Command Post, 3rd Platoon and 4th Platoons is moving to BS638563, 1st Platoon is moving to BS635556 and 2nd Platoon is moving to BS646565. At 1204hrs 2nd platoon vicinity BS649565 while on patrol found in heavy brush 1 M-72 Law, was extended and had been triggered but did not fire, it was destroyed in Place. Delta Company also found at BS648567, 1bag of salt and cooking utensils, and a campfire 5 to 7 days old. At 1335hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is closing vicinity BS649566 and at 1340hrs 3rd Platoon patrol closed on BS633563 and 1st Platoon patrol closed on BS643548. At 2007hrs Delta Command Post, 3rd and 4th Platoon at BS664563, 2nd Platoon BS649565, 1st platoon at BS663561.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0650hrs Recon is moving out for LZ Liz. At 1846hrs Recon is moving out for BS754446. At 1955hrs Recon reports in preplanned location vicinity BS854446.
