Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1000hrs Division report Convoy left at 1000hrs ETA Quang Ngai and at 1200hrs, 65 vehicles is scheduled to go straight through to Bon Song. At 1210hrs 1-20 Infantry Mike Force at BS839415 has a POW who can lead US Troops to old village where 7 VC are hiding. At 1435hrs 1-20 Infantry 19th Engineer has been using Vietnamese work party for construction purposes of past 2 weeks, work party came from DIEN-THRUONG and PHO LAM BS880286, Party of 20 to 40 people. This morning only 4 showed up and when an officer questioned people they said VC threatened to kill them if they keep on working for the US.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0048hrs Charlie Sector, bunker 46 received 1 sniper round requested illumination. At 1840hrs Sector F reports smoke screen on bunker line caused by smoke grenades from sector E vicinity bunker 54. At 2015hrs Sector C reports 18-20 in coming small arms rounds return fire with M-79 and illumination. At 2050hrs Sector H reports 3 60mm mortar rounds impacted vicinity BS8237, RD area. At 2120 Bunker 03 observed and engaged 6-8 individual at150meters fire was returned. SP5 Samuel K. Arndt JR. was attached to the 67th Medical Evac Hospital.
Alpha Company
February 28, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Search and Destroy operation in their Area of Operation. At 1010hrs Alpha Company has reported their location at LZ Bronco. At 1800hrs Alpha Company is at BS824373 and observed 1 VC evading result is 1 VC KIA, 1 M-26 hand grenade CIA. At 2010hrs Alpha Company then moved into their Night Logger Position at BS843394 with multiple ambushes in their locations 23 at BS842380, 32 at BS842362 and 33 at BS824373.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company Continued to use Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operation. At 2010hrs Bravo Company established their Night Defense Position at BS755376, 10 at BS763382, 20 at BS755362 ambushes BS755372 and 30 at BS763401.
Charlie Company
February 28, 1968
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie and continued to use Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation.
Delta Company
February 28, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. Delta ambush at 0716hrs established contact vicinity BS877341 with result 1 VC KIA searching for 2nd VC. At 0815hrs Delta at BS882341 spotted 5 personnel evading from area where gunfire came from and results 8 VCS detained. Delta Company at 1246hrs Delta Company at BS876334 found a tunnel 150’ long, 3’, 5’ deep used recently will destroy. At 2010hrs Delta Company report 1st Platoon on Bridges with 3rd Platoon ambushes at BS856273 and BS860265.
Echo Company
February 28, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 0225hrs Recon at BS877278 in contact with unknown size enemy force, 2 US WHA minor, will not evac until daylight wounded by grenade frag. At 0702hrs Recon requested Dust Off 1 frag hand grenade, and 1 gun shot, Dust Off was completed at 0720hrs. At 1010hrs Recon reports their location at BS890324. At 1315hrs Recon at BS888299 found a tunnel 20 meters long entrance 4’ X 4’ will destroy. At 1724hrs Recon at BS828267 observed 12 VC and are pursuing. At 2025hrs Recon Platoon has ambush. At 2045hrs Recon repots 8 rounds HE observed 800 meters from position asked counter mortar surveillance requested. SP4 William Weidman and SP4 Thomas Edwards where attached to 67th Medical Hospital.
