Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0430hrs Radar at 2040hrs radar sighted 10 to 20 personnel at BS726546 with negative clearance due to Charlie Company. At 2145hrs and unknown number of personnel were sighted at BS725455 with negative clearance Charlie Company. At 0805hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Area of Operation extension B106 is canceled effective 290600hrs August 70. Requests Area of Operation extension from the 4th Regiment in the Date/Time/Grid, from 290600hrs Aug 1970 to 302400hrs Sept 70, from BS687589 to BS680586 to BS680500 to BS800500 to BS700480 excluding LZ Dragon and Government military outpost. The purpose is to conduct rice denial operations and approved by Brigade 280847hrs. At 1015hrs Brigade on 29 and 30 August 1970 and 1-2 September Brigade will have 6 slicks, 2 gun ships, 1 LOH an 1 AMC for Eagle Flights and request 4-21 Infantry and 1-20 Infantry submit plans for such. Colonel Barlow informed us that we have the eagle flight on 29 August and 2 September. Major Brown wants our plan as soon as we work it up. Also Flame Drops will probably be on the afternoon of 30 August 1970. At 1325hrs Helix 31 we had a Bomb Damage Assessment of 1 very good secondary fire on the east side of the target. At 1355hrs Engineer and Quad 50 are linked up and are moving to the Alpha 41 element location. At 1420hrs 1-20 infantry submit following plan APD H 105 in the area BS7139 to BS7134 to BS7934 to BS7738 in the Date/Time/Grid 290800hrs August 1970 to 301800hrs August. At 1645hrs LTC Laundry G5 (designated) Americal Division will visit LZ Liz on 291349hrs August 1970 for briefing and to stay 20 minutes. At 1845hrs 1-20 Infantry requests an Are of Operation extension in the Date/Time/Grid 290600hrs to 291800hrs from BS6854 to BS6754 to BS6552 to BS6550 to BS6952 to BS7053 for the purpose of checking the area (MITT) as directed by Colonel Barlow, approved by 11 Brigade and 4 Regiment. At 1940hrs 26 Engineer at total of 32 hours were worked clearing 75 acres in the area BS699540 to BS703545 to BS706542 to BS702538 destroying 25 bunkers and 4 fighting positions. Also destroyed 75 meters of trench, 3 booby traps and 5 more booby traps, 50 pound polished rice and some documents were turned over to MACV Mo Duc. The Engineer reports 5 D7 are operational, 1 CEV, 1 AC and 1 M548 and 1 Quad 50 are on hand and operational. At 2215hrs MACV Mo Duc Nui Ong Do OP took 5 rounds of mortar fire outside their compound. Counter mortars were fired into the suspected enemy grids of BS770540 and BS774540 we received these rounds at 2110hrs PF Platoon 176. Legend: 1st Platoon 23-26, 2nd Platoon 83-88, 3rd Platoon 63-68 and CO 34.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 28, 1970
At 1340hrs Alpha Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 6 PF who hit a booby trap they have Multiple Frag Wounds. The booby trap was a 105 with a trip wire devise completed at 1358hrs. We had evac 2 KIA and 4 WIA from the 937 RF Company. Alpha Company the 53 element had 20 detainees at this time we are still in route to S-3 location. At 1544hrs the 53 element checked the area pointed out by S-3 with negative finding. The 53 element is blocking position at BS751514 and 64 and 34 are in area 1 at BS753620. At 1624hrs Alpha Company Command Post element just received 15 rounds of AK 47 fire (semi automatic) from BS754620 and returned fire with negative results, also we found 1 ton of rice. They are near the area where they received the AK 47 fire. At 1755hrs Alpha Company the 53 and 34 elements have linked together and have a total of 68 detainees, 4 males, 28 females and 36 children, sending to MACV, Mo Duc.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company
August 28, 1970
Charlie Company used multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0545hrs Charlie Company the 94 element is moving to BS728450 and the 93 element is moving to BS728437. At 0720hrs Charlie Company the 26 element is at checkpoint 2 at BS729462, the 25 element is at checkpoint 2 BS719435, the 83 element resupply element is at BS728446, the 63 Night Defense position is at BS7337402 and the 34, 23 and 53 Night Defense Position is at BS727427. At 1540hrs Charlie Company the 26 element is moving to BS712425. At 1720hrs Charlie Company VIP program the 83 element has 2 HE 155 rounds, 1 4.2 HE round, 1 4.2 WP round a BS728446, for a total of 1280 Vietnamese $ were paid for them. At 2345hrs Charlie Company at grid BS705422 we spotted a light (the same place as last night) and calling in Artillery on the area.
Delta Company

Delta Company 1st PZ at 0835hrs was canceled. Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Echo Company
August 28, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0430hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total of Illumination 32 rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0610hrs Recon the 91 element is moving to BS706443. At 0955hrs Recon the 23 element had negative findings on the radar sighting at BS725455. At 1425hrs Recon the 24 ambush is at BS710400. At 1725hrs Recon 23 reports is moving off the mountains at BS710400 and at 1816hrs report the 23 element is at BS708437 and will stay here until dark. At 1920hrs Recon the 24 element is moving to their preplanned ambush at BS710400. At 1950hrs Recon the 23 and 24 elements are at BS707433 and BS710400 respectively.
