Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0930hrs 174th Aviation at BS845365 engaged 9 VC evading and engaged with results of 9 KIA, was a Visual Recon Mission. At 2325hrs Fire Fly at BS886282 spot a large hole in road with 2 black objects close by, they tried to detonate these with negative results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1620hrs Report convoy at BS920183 received 4-7 rounds of sniper fire.
Alpha Company
April 28, 1969
Alpha Company is OPCON to the 4-21 Infantry. At 0800hrs Alpha Company is located at BS670295 and by 1005hrs Alpha Company using a Recon in Force has moved to BS677292. At 1155hrs Alpha Company at BS676294 found 2 Hut abandoned in area found shed with 3 knifes and 20 to 25 pounds of rice, and area showed signs of use within the last 48 hours. At 1335hrs Alpha Company at BS675294 has contact with 2 to 3 VC/NVA results where 2 US WHA (E), gun ships on station and by 1600hrs Alpha Company in their Patrol Base Night Defense Position at BS6701295. CPL MANUEL HERNANDEZ JR. is LISTED AS KHA. SP4 William McDermott was evac to 312th Evac Hospital sick.
Bravo Company
April 28, 1969
At 0800hrs Bravo Company is located at BS711450. At 1007hrs Bravo Company at BS708448 have reached our Night Defense Position we have found barbed wire and 2 anti personnel mines are checking out area for more mines more to follow. At 704445 went to recover weapons and search for Intelligence Then at 1820hrs Bravo Company at BS699454 with Command Post at BS701451. At 1905hrs Bravo Company received small arms fire it appears that VC, were setting up L shape ambush and engaged was unable to recover with negative casualties. At 2210hrs Bravo Company engaged 2 VC outside perimeter with pit helmets, pistol belts and weapons.
Charlie Company

At1420hrs Charlie Company reports their locations are at BS748405 and 31 at BS745416.
Delta Company
April 28, 1969
Delta Company continued their Security mission for LZ Liz. At 1015hrs Delta Company at BS752436 and BS754420 and at 1420hrs Delta 21 & 63 at BS738443. At 1105hrs Delta Company BS825440 VC in area and evaded when US come into area. At1023hrs Delta Company at BS823440 PRU found a rice cache 3000 pounds with 2000 destroyed and 1000 evac. At 1505hrs E Troop1 Cav and Delta Company at BS770439 track went through barb wire and set off mine results Delta Company reports 3 WIA evac and E Troop reports 3 WIA Evac. At 1820hrs Delta Company reports their night locations 33 at Bridge 402U, 35 OP at BS752436 and 34 with Command Post at BS754420. At 2220hrs Delta Company at BS727447 spotted 2 NVA, blew claymore and snake small arms fire. NVA return fire, result 1 NVA KIA and looking for 2 NVA believed wounded, captured 1 AK 47, pistol belt and pack with ammo, NVA killed by WP grenade.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
