Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade. As the 196th Light Infantry Brigade moves north to support the Marines.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0745hrs 4-21st Infantry Bridge 100 at BS885288 104 partially destroyed by pass useable. At 0904hrs Delta Company 19th Engineer are putting in culvert ½ mile north of LZ Bronco, road will be closed for 2-2 ½ hours. Traffic cannot come into Bronco or leave. At 0915hrs 19th Engineers reports BS898268 Bridge 405 completely destroyed by fire, RR bypass is in use there was no security on bridge. At 0850hrs at BS911264 Bridge 98 end rails and tread way removed from western side during the night. At 0905hrs at BS883303mine sweep, verified bridge 105 burned down completely, will continue construction of by pass. Temporary RR by pas open, 5 pillars saved. Appended 1 male this morning, had several ID and papers had drawing of bridge that was burned. VCS is at 4-21 Infantry LZ Thunder location for questioning. At 1145hrs Highway 1 is open from Bong Son to Chu Lai.

Bravo Company continued to use their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operations. Bravo Company engaged 3 VC dressed in black PJ with results 1 VC KIA and 1 makeshift pack CIA.

Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense or LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon.
