Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. LZ Bronco Base Defense at 2000hrs reported 4 secondary explosions in the area that gun ships had worked over in support of Alpha Company and at 2100hrs Base defense reported 2 more large secondary explosions.
Alpha Company
September 27, 1969
At 0610hrs Alpha Company reports they are moving out at this time and at 0625hrs we have stopped to check out some hootches. At 0800hrs Alpha Company is located at BS814458 and using as their Day logger so to work saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1400hrs Alpha is at BS813459 and by 1510hrs is moving out of their Day Logger received sniper fire negative casualties. At 1848hrs Alpha Company at BS819446 received 2 rounds of 82mm Mortar round, and diverted Gun ships from Combat Assault to Alpha Company location with negative casualties or damage, enemy grid at BS819420 also have reported 2 secondary explosions at this grid. At 2030hrs Alpha Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS820443. At 2130hrs Alpha Company all OP’s are in location at BS818432.
Bravo Company
September 27, 1969
At 0645hrs Bravo Company Bravo Company 32 element is sweeping back to the Southern Bridge. At 0640hrs Bravo Company (65) is at BS774434 checking out area of last night firefight when 3 NVA were spotted moving west they found 1 NVA CIA under a culvert with negative weapon but with a pack and canteen, found his sleeping evac to Bronco. At 1000hrs Bravo Company at BS785426 with 32 at BS771461 and 33 at BS789417. At 1020hrs Bravo Company Ranger platoon at 1015hrs made contact at BS785400 with a platoon size VC enemy force, results from the engagement is 1 WIA (M) from the RF unit and they report took fire from at least 1 .30 cal and 7 to 8 automatic weapons fire and Ranger back at South Bridge. At 1100hrs Bravo Company the 33 element and rangers (90 RF) are moving into the BS7942 grid square, the 39th Engineer said they received fire from this grid. At 1325hrs Bravo Company Ranger, 33 and 01 elements spotted 3 NVA with green uniforms and with weapons. Request some kind of chopper to help flush these personnel our in the open. At 1540hrs Bravo Company has completed their sweep, negative results and we are now moving back to Day Logger. At 1725hrs Bravo Company 1 lost 45 Caliber Pistol in Day Logger at BS785426, we are looking for he lost pistol at this time. Name of Man is Umbenhauen, Eugene SP4. At 1917hrs Bravo Company has closed on Southern Bridge 402. At 2030hrs Bravo Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS790425.
Charlie Company
September 27, 1969
At 0510hrs Charlie Company 61 element is leaving the perimeter at this time and the 03 element has closed on the perimeter at this time. At 0800hrs Charlie Company at BS805455 with 61at BS814442. At 0915hrs at BS813440 found 2,600 pounds of rice will bag it up and evac to Bronco and buried in 55 gal drums buried in the ground and we made our Day Logger at BS813440. At 0915hrs Charlie Company the 33 element snake is at BS811441. At 1235hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position for 28 September 1969 at grid BS814437 with 68 snake at grid BS815434 and the 65 snake at grid BS818435. At 1430hrs Charlie Company received automatic weapons fire from BS821439, negative casualties or damaged engaged with 81mm Mortar with unknown results. At 1507hrs Charlie Company at grid BS813440 we have 1 Vietnamese female 60 years old shot in the ankle and 1 Vietnamese child 6 years old shot in the arm. They received these wounds from enemy sniper fire. We will Dust Off both with the Utility Helicopter. At 1525hrs Charlie Company is back at grid BS813400 we have 29 bags of rice and are still bagging. At 1805hrs Charlie Company total rice evacuated approximately 3,300 pounds. Charlie Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS814437, 68 at BS815434, and 65 at BS818435.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the 24 element at North OP and the 77 element at South OP. At 0620hrs Delta Company 81mm mortar Ammo Report expended 69 HE, 2 Illumination and 5 WP rounds. At 1550hrs Delta Company and PRU joint Combat Assault 1st PZ 1500hrs and last LZ 1617hrs. At 1615hrs Delta Company we are now in blocking force location. At 1747hrs Delta Company 61 element has linked up with Vietnamese. Delta Company has Combat Assault PZ 1815hrs and LZ 1845hrs to LZ Liz. At 2121hrs Delta Company the 65 snake is on the Access Road is in position.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1808hrs Recon Platoon is moving off LZ Liz at this time. At 2030hrs Recon Platoon report their night location at BS757408.
