Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0752hrs MACV Mo Duc, BS750610 Van Ban 5 area, evac 200 100 pounds bags of unpolished rice and 10 100 pounds bags of polished rice, 8,000 pounds of spoiled rice remain in the field. Results of the Combined Operation Bravo Company and 103rd RF Company as of 27 November 1970 detained 86, 20 identified as VC or VCI, 2 KIA Province Economy Cadre (name: Tra Xuan Lang), more complete list will be obtained 27 November 1970. At 1700hrs S-5 VIP location LZ Dragon purchased from 6 Vietnamese children paid 600 piasters for the following items: 3 M-79 HE rounds, 3 M-26 hand frag, 1 M-79 with outer sleeve, 1 105 round and 1 M-60 bolt assembly. Legend: 1st Platoon 12-18, 2nd Platoon 62-68, 3rd Platoon 82-88, 4th Platoon 32-38 and CO 44.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

Bravo Company
November 27, 1970
At 1000hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon on patrol spotted 1 person with small arms and killed him with direct hit from an M-203. Search of body revealed rucksack with 5 pounds of rice, 1 poncho, 1 flashlight, 7 AK47 rounds, KIA approximately 21 years old found some unknown documents, will send in to S-2 appears to be a roster some 15 names on it. At 0335hrs Bravo Company vicinity BS737576 RF combined Surge Operation East of Mo Duc, while on combined operations with the 103rd RF Company, the 2nd Platoon spotted and pursued 1 military age male he evaded into a bunker and sealed all means of escape. They attempted to talk the man out of hiding and finally threaten to frag the bunker. At this point the man belted from the rear exit and was engaged with small arms fire with the results 1 VC KIA. He was 30 years old, blue shorts, no shirt, found in bunker, 1 M-16 magazine, 10 rounds, M-16 ammo, 1 PRC 25 battery, 2 hand made blasting caps, and 1 Chi Com grenade, 1 NVA newspaper (date Nov 70), 1 white T-shirt. Bravo Company 1st and 4th Platoon with the Command Post while searching and clearing Hamlet vicinity BS746573, found 1900 pounds of rice. It was in good condition, this years harvest and unpolished, 19 100pounds bags extracted to LZ snoopy and picked up by resupply truck and taken to Brigade S-5. Bravo Company 3rd Platoon spotted VC/NVA suspected age 25 vicinity BS745585 the requested him to stop fired warning shots and he evaded south. Then engaged him at 100 meters resulting in VC/NVA KIA, he was wearing black tops and Khaki bottoms, had in his possession 1 M-67 baseball grenade and 1 Concussion grenade, negative ID and scar on his left leg old wounds.
Charlie Company

At 0750hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is moving out for BS738634, 2nd Platoon patrol is canceled and 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS739629. At 0940hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol is in location and set up in position to observer vicinity BS739614. At 1200hrs Charlie Company, 143, 143 PF combined Surge Operation Eastern Mo Duc, reacting to intelligence gathered from a captured VC, the 143 RF Platoon joined forces with the 2nd Platoon and initiated an intensive search for hidden bunkers and tunnel entrances. En route to the above, the combined force was able to encircle and captured 4 of 5 VC. They evaded, 1 male dressed in black tops and black bottoms was carrying an M-16 #1910485 CIA and 1 M-16 magazine was CIA. Another male was dressed identically, he was carrying 1 M-1 magazines, 2 females blue tops and purple bottoms, were also CIA, all of them had negative ID. The combined force the area for the 5 VC and had negative finding. Mean while the Houng Houng Team interrogated the 1 male captured with the M-4 Magazine. The enemy divulged the location of 1 M-1 rifle, reacting to this the combined force moved to BS735606 and found 1 M-1 rifle hidden in a bunker. Total results 4 VC CIA, 1 M-16 CIA with magazine, 4 VC CIS, and 1 M-1 CIA with magazine. At 1920hrs Charlie Company and the 143 RF Company in vicinity BS741613, was returning to their Day Logger after searching several tunnels a POW had voluntarily led them to, he then tried to escape by running. He was then engaged by (RF and PSDF personnel), with small arms fire and the POW was killed by this fire, in the action and 1 PSDF was wounded by friendly fire. The wound was to his elbow point, he was evac at 2005hrs. CPT. Donovan requests Engineers to destroy holes and bunkers, holes 8 X 16 going down 4’ were enough to hold 2 people. At 2111hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon received incoming hand frag from unknown direction. Returned fire with hand frag, before withdrawing they blew one claymore. Before back into the Night Defense Position they checked area of contact with negative finding.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to work their Area of Operation with patrolling. At 1000hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS663557, 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS655558. At 1015hrs 2nd Platoon vicinity BS678567 request Urgent Dust Off I US who stepped on a Booby trap, has frag wounds in both legs. Booby trap was a hand frag with pressure release device, booby trap was located on a rock pile by some brush, it was not on a trail Line #11P Powell, completed at 1032hrs At 1228hrs 1st Platoon patrol found a booby trip vicinity BS661569. It was a small can of Petna buried in a hole 6""in diameter on a old APC Trail. Had pressure device detonator approximately 2 weeks old was blown in place. At 1606hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol at checkpoint 1 at BS664560, 2nd Platoon at checkpoint 2 BS688563 and 3rd Platoon is at BS653565. At 1645hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS678565 spotted a total of 7 booby trap markers (X made of bamboo) within a 75 meter area. Their Kit Carson Scout confirmed that these were valid markers. They withdrew from the area to fire artillery, fired artillery with no secondary explosions, sending a patrol to check out the area. At 1747hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out to check the suspected booby trap location vicinity BS678565. At 1747hrs vicinity Delta Company vicinity BS681568 requests Urgent Dust Off for 3 US who received multiple frag wounds from enemy M-79, sniper fire, (Villanueva, Fastart, Falcon) complete at 1839hrs. At 1918hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon vicinity while moving to their Night Location engaged 2-3 VC with weapons 700 meters to their northeast. They received 5 to 7 incoming rounds believed to be RPG, M-79, or rocket grenades and 2 bursts of AK-47 Automatic weapons fire. They dusted of 3 US with multiple frag wounds, requested sharks for Dust Off, after Dust off the shark-expended ordinance. While doing so they received fire from the east. Delta Company fired Red Leg (Artillery into the contact area. They are now firing Illumination and are proceeding to check the area and at 2011hrs they reported negative findings. At 2012hrs Delta Command Post BS653557, 1st Platoon BS665566, 2nd Platoon BS680562, BS682557 and 3rd Platoon BS650561. Charlie Company reports SSGT Larry Powell at 1032hrs to 91 Evac with MFW both legs and broken FW to eye, SP4 Jesse L. Falcon at 1900hrs was evac to B 23 Medical with MRW to right leg and both arms, PFC Roberto C. Villanueva at 1900hrs was evac to 91 Evac with MFW right leg and abdomen and PFC Peter L. Fastert at 1900hrs was evac to the 23 Medical with Multiple Frag wounds to Right arm and chest.

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon on LZ Liz continued their Security Mission for (1-20 Infantry).
