Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0740hrs Helix 39 is on station. At 1450hrs 1-20 Infantry weather warning from Brigade passed on to all units. At 1735hrs M26 we received intelligence from civilians at Nui On Do that there were 3 to 4 VC at BS768537. At 1700hrs 1 platoon with M26 went to that location and 3 VC Chieu Hoi with no weapons. At 1710hrs 1 more VC Chieu Hoi was found with no weapon. They were taken to Nui On Do for interrogation. We will advise you further when the details are available and will be sent to higher headquarters for interrogation. At 1730hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports 22 acres were cleared in the area of BS770553 to BS772548 (200 meters wide). Six bunkers were destroyed and 400 gallons of fuel was expended. We have 5 D7 operational and 2 CEV operational. At 1925hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry the 24 element is at BS739576, the 26 element is moving to BS0744575, 02element is moving to BS743565, 04 element is moving to BS737564 and the 44 element is moving to BS740572. At 1935hrs M26 four Chieu Hoi have been extracted and sent to MACV Mo Duc. At 2145hrs Mo Duc has negative information on the 4 Chieu Hoi at their location. It will probably be first light before anything develops. At 2210hrs Brigade the Ground surveillance Team spotted 2 to 4 stationary personnel at BS829399 and engaged with 81mm mortar with unknown results and sighted 5 to 7 personnel moving south and engaged with 81mm mortars with unknown results and Nighthawk will check it out.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0755hrs Alpha Company and at Bravo Company Alpha Company said their element on the access road took fire from the red ball and the Bravo Company 22 element took one round of small arms fire at the corner bunker in the Twin Ville. They believe it was fire from the ARVN. At 0801hrs Alpha Company we are still receiving fire from the Twin Ville. At 1832hrs all access road snakes and patrols are in location.
Bravo Company

At 0040hrs Bravo Company the Ground Surveillance Team at Bronco spotted 10 personnel moving west and at 0015hrs and engaged them with 81mm with unknown results with unknown results with Bravo Company informed. At 0650hrs Bravo Company destroyed 1 booby trapped baseball grenade with trip wire at BS770453. A dog set off another booby trap device of the same type with negative casualties. At 0755hrs Alpha Company and Bravo Company, Alpha Company said their element on the access road took fire from the Red Ball and Bravo Company 22 element took one round of small arms fire at the corner bunker in the Twin Ville. They believe it was fire from the ARVN. Bravo Company continued to work closely with ARVN Forces in multiple patrolling, Day Ambushes, Night Ambushes and security mission with ARVN Forces. At 2105hrs Bravo Company the 42 element spotted several fires at BS846406 and call in Artillery.

Delta Company

At 0630hrs Delta Company all snakes have closed and we are moving to our Day Logger position at BS788377. At 0650hrs one male Vietnamese farmer, while working in his field, hit a dud M79 round with his hoe (BS782435), results one Vietnamese civilian was KIA. Delta Company continued to finish their rice collection and use multiple patrolling and saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1230hrs Delta Company we found 8,200pounds of rice at BS740573. It was in holes under haystacks, under floors of hootches and in several rice bins. It was found in several locations throughout the Ville, all wrapped in plastic and was in good conduction and unpolished and from the latest harvest. At 1445hrs Delta Company the 82 element found 2 NVA canteens in hootch at BS737576. At 1850hrs Delta Company we found an additional 7,160 pounds at BS739573, BS737476 and BS744574. There was 3 100 pounds bags in a bush beside a hootch, the rest was in 800 to 900 pound caches under hootches and in holes in the ground all wrapped in plastic, in good condition and unpolished from last harvest. At 2005hrs Delta Company report all elements are in their night position. At 2100hrs Delta Company the 02 element spotted headlights about 1500 meters to their southeast and the Charlie 4-3 Infantry and the 26th Engineers say it was not coming from their location. The 2 element will keep an eve out for the lights again and engage if possible.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0545hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 5 for a total expended of 10 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon the 01 and 02 elements have linked up and are in the Day Logger at BS739472. At 0755hrs Brigade commander’s Conference at 181300hrs May 1970 and are welcome for lunch. At 1250hrs M26 one platoon of M26 received M-79 from BS756541. At 1410hrs Recon we request routine Dust Off for 1 US with a temperature of 104 (line #31S1485). Name Robert E. Smith completed at 1425hrs. (believe it was SGT Robert E. Smith JR). At 2025hrs Recon Platoon reports all elements in their location the 01 is at BS741466, the 02 element is at BS732473 and the 03 element is at BS722434.
