Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. 1-20 Infantry will have the OPCON for Alpha Company 3-21 Infantry as they pass thru 1-20 Infantry, Area of Operations at 0900hrs as they move to 4-31 Infantry. At 1305hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Road Open to LZ Ross and Convoy closed at 1417hrs. At 1630hrs Convoy departing LZ Ross and closed on LZ Baldy at 1731hrs. At 1737hrs Command and Control Helicopter received automatic weapons fire at AT987315 from AT994314 while on resupply Mission, took 1 hit but still flyable and engaging with Artillery.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0930hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS818353 and 1 US WIA (M) was not evac, caused by a command detonated mine, piece of shrapnel in chin. PFC Joseph Cahall JR. was evac to 95th Evac Hospital DA Nang with gunshot wound of left thigh.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is conducting a Sweep and Clear operation in their Area of Operation to BT005305 to AT991306. At 0842hrs Alpha Company at grid AT998312 observed what looks to be a 3 man OP with 1 man with Brown uniform, and others wearing back shorts, 1000 meters southeast of their location, unit is moving in to check area at this time. At 1540hrs Alpha Company vicinity at BS021517 received sniper fire resulting in 1 US WHA (M). At 1737hrs Command and Control Helicopter received automatic weapons fire at AT987315 from AT994314 while on resupply Mission, took 1 hit but still flyable and engaging with Artillery. At 1830hrs Alpha Company vicinity BT0053 to BT0055 received 1 sniper round 600 meters northeast with 1 US WIA, no action taken due to friendly troops in area. Alpha Company reports their Night Defense Position at AT991306.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Ryder and will be conducting local Security Patrols in their Area of Operation along with local OP. PFC Edward L Zimmerly was attached to the 2nd Surgical Hospital sick at 1400hrs.
Charlie Company
May 27, 1968
Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Ross with responsibility for keep Road open. At 1738hrs Charlie Company at 065365 reports 20 P received 100 rounds small arms fire, 5 to 6 M-79 rounds 300 meters southeast firing stop at 1810hrs. Charlie Company reports the following PFC Peter Flores, PFC Joseph Hughett, PFC Tommy Knox, SP4 Joe Grimes and PFC Daniel Simone where evac injured to 95th Medical Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Search and Destroy operation in their Area of Operation, sweeping to AT996395 to AT995365. At 1308hrs Delta Company at AT986374 observed 4 VC, 1 VC fired at them, returned fire results 3 VC CIA, 1 Wore green uniform, 1 wore Black PPJ and 1 had Khaki shirt and black pants along with 1 pack of medical supplies. Delta Company reports their Night Defense Position at BT030190.
Echo Company
May 27, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon.
