Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder as the Battalion returns to Control of the 11th Light Infantry Brigade Control in the Duc Pho Area of Operation. At 0033hrs 1-20 Infantry reports E Troop Bridge #95 received 2 rounds 60mm mortar fire, negative casualties, negative damage. Fire came from vicinity BS933238 also received small arms fire from the west. 1-20 Infantry requested Gun Ships and Flare Ship Division TOC sent to area Flare Ship, Gun Ships and Swift Boat. At 0125hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Flare Ship observed 8 boats with out light moving out to sea from vicinity BS933249. Flare ship illuminated the area and sharks engaged. Sharks reported boats seemed to be carrying cargo, which was loaded in the center of the boats, Boats were approximately 25 feet long results 8 Boats destroyed. At 0908hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Delta Company 4-21 at BS752550 received small arms fire, negative casualties and checking area now with negative results. At 1117hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS762556 received 4 rounds sniper fire, moving elements into area to check it out, negative casualties. At 1335hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS769555 found 2 NVA uniforms in bunker, one was khaki, one OD with ammo pouch, were shown bunker by Vietnamese civilians, will evac uniforms. At 1525hrs 1-20 Infantry requested 1 platoon of APC to work with Alpha Company on 28 June 1968 at BS783446. E Troop CPT Oley will have a platoon of APC at LZ Liz tonight to work with Alpha Company on 28 June 1968. At 1510hrs 19 Engineer at BS842329 received 2 rounds sniper fire from eastside of road, returned fire, negative results negative casualties. At 1500hrs 1-20 Infantry Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS768557 detained 1 (female) VC in a hootch Vietnamese people claim she is VC black pants, blue blouse, evac to LZ Bronco. At 1607hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS754548 found mine in trail, destroyed, marked with bamboo bush across trail. At 1612hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS771534 found a booby trap 105 round, had trip wire attached, destroyed, was marked with a mound of dirt with bamboo stick on it. At 1605hrs Delta Company at BS764558 found a mine buried in trail destroyed, marked with a mound of dirt with bamboo sticks on it and at 1640hrs Delta Compny4-21 Infantry at BS749551 received 50-60 rounds automatic weapons fire, estimated from 500 meters away. Returned fire, contact broken evaded to northeast request sharks and 2 Gun Ships where sent. At 1703hrs 1-20 Infantry request Scout Dog to work with Alpha Company and E Troop tomorrow. Request will have 2 scout dog teams at southeast pad at 0730hrs with Military Intelligence man. At 1731hrs 1-20 Infantry reports 4-21 Infantry at BS768555, detained 1 VCS while searching area found ID card, old man in area said picture of Individual on ID card was dead, was his son, and a VC sniper who had AK 44. Old man dressed in maroon shirt and black trousers and was evac to IPW. At 1826hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at LZ Dragon with the 30 ambush at BS753547.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0950hrs Headquarters and Headquarters Company 11th Light Infantry Brigade had observed Vietnamese picking up M-79 duds and throwing them in direction of bunkers line, am moving out to check this area.
Alpha Company
June 27, 1968
At 0920hrs Alpha Company at BS734433, found a letter with several names and ages on it, Vietnamese says its is VC, also found old rusty grenade going to destroy in place. At 1825hrs Alpha Company (-) is at LZ Liz with ambushes at 12 BS785436, 22 BS758443, and 31 at BS748439.
Bravo Company
June 27, 1968
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1800hrs Bravo Company (-) locations with 10 Night Defense Position at BS833390 and with ambush at BS841393. Bravo Company reports that SP4 Timothy Sponable was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital sick at 1000hrs. Bravo Company reports SP4 Dennis W. Medford and SGT Arthur J. Petee where attached to the 2nd Surgical Hospital sick at 1800hrs.
Charlie Company

At 1335hrs Charlie Company is located at BS793324. At 1805hrs Charlie Company at BS802312 found a booby trap 105mm round with trip wire, will destroy. At 1815hrs Charlie Company established their Night Defense Position at BS802311 with ambushes at 10 BS804312, 20 BS802305, and 30 BS802311.
Delta Company
June 27, 1968
Delta Company is at LZ Bronco for their Stand Down. At 1759hrs Delta Company at BS753546 Vietnamese civilian working with Delta Company hit a booby trap pressure detonated mine results 1 civilian KIA. At 1815hrs Delta Company is at LZ Bronco. PFC Chester M. Wortham was sick and at 0900hrs was Evac to the 2nd Surgical Hospital and attached.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry requested Gun Ships and Flare Ship Division TOC sent to area Flare Ship, Gun Ships and Swift Boat. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 0125hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Flare Ship observed 8 boats with out light moving out to sea from vicinity BS933249. Flare ship illuminated the area and sharks engaged. Sharks reported boats seemed to be carrying cargo, which was loaded in the center of the boats the Boats were approximately 25 feet long results 8 Boats destroyed. At 0920hrs Recon Platoon at BS934225, found a body looks like Vietnamese man with 50 caliber wounds, 40-50 years old and body approximately 1 week old.
