Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0402hrs Honest Blue (B 123rd Aviation) is on station for Nighthawk Box 55, 56, 57 and at 0438hrs is now checking Bronco. At 0445hrs Honest Blue is checking LZ LIZ and at 0451hrs checking Snoopy breaking station at 0505hrs. At 0401hrs SSGT Goat inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 for Charlie Company and all were found satisfactory. At 0711hrs Hornet 29 (116 AHC) came on station. At 0807hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 0940hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 5 (11 Brigade Aviation) is on station. At 1545hrs 1-20 Infantry and Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery: 1-20 Infantry had a 2 ½ ton going north and Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery going south when a head on collision occurred between the two vehicles, vicinity BS742520. Apparently Artillery vehicle swerved to the left to miss some Vietnamese children, then to the right and back to the left in front of the deuce and a half. All wreckage was on East Side of the road. Results were 1 US Red Leg KIA who was in the right seat of ¾ ton, 4 US Red legs WIA, and 2 US Dog Handlers WIA, Dust Off to Chu Lai. At 2027hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, Bravo 4, Delta 4 and Recon 1 for a total 11 out. At 2035hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Field Strength: Alpha 49, Bravo 61, Delta 59, Echo 23 and HHC 10. At 2120hrs Honest Black (B 123 Aviation) at 2120hrs into box 67X. At 2130hrs has moved into Bronco and at 2138hrs into LZ Liz. At 2152hrs Honest Black is closing into Snoop had negative findings in box or perimeters and breaking station at 2206hrs. At 2230hrs 2-4 ARVN at 1130hrs vicinity BS565725 while searching and clearing found 1 VC evading to west, results were 1 female VC KIA. At 2255hrs Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 15, 16, 17, 1, 2 and 3 all were satisfactory. At 2344hrs Charlie Company LT Nelson and SGT Goat inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 and all were satisfactory. (SGT KEN TAKETA IS LIST AS KIA I believe was KIA for Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery) Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1946hrs Alpha Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS775342 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company
July 27, 1971
Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2025hrs Bravo Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post with 1st Platoon is at BS713456 and 2nd Platoon is at BS699453 with 4 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 0401hrs SSGT Goat inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 for Charlie Company and all were found satisfactory. At 2255hrs Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 15, 16, 17, 1, 2 and 3, satisfactory. At 2350hrs LT Nelson and SSGT Goat inspected the Bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 and found them satisfactory.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0630hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post is moving out to Patrol Base vicinity BS757353 and the 1st Platoon is moving to Patrol Base at BS757357. At 1650hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS748360. At 1655hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving to BS754340. At 2015hrs Delta Company reports Night Defense Position s Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS763354 and 1st Platoon at BS757349 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company
July 27, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1658hrs Recon is moving to Night Defense Position vicinity BS714445. At 2007hrs Recon has closed on their Night Defense Position at BS718438.
